Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Enclosed is a collection of love letters, inspired by the Holy Spirit, reminding us of God’s promises written in the Bible. The readings speak of His everlasting love for us. They speak of the love, peace, and joy that He wishes to fill us with. You are drawn up close and personal with our heavenly Father—exactly where He wants you to be. The messages will warm your heart and comfort your soul. Come, read, and be blessed. “‘And it shall come to pass in the last days,’ says God, ‘that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.’” —Acts 2:17 “Having gifts differing according to the grace that is given us, let us use them; if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith.” —Romans 12:6 “For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.” —1 Corinthians 14:13 The above scriptures speak to my only qualifications to share the words written in this book. I am not a theologian or minister of any church— only an obedient servant of God. These love letters from God, written from 1981–2013, assure us of His love for us and the peace and joy that He longs to fill us with. Chicago, Illinois is my homeland. I was born, educated and raised my family there. I also lived in Indiana, Nevada, and now Texas. Each of my four children and grandchildren live in different states. I am a retired widow and enjoy traveling to visit each of them. It was my pleasure to teach primary children for thirty-seven years. It was a joy to learn from them, for as God said, “Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of God” (Matthew 18:3). I pray that my aged outer self never penetrates my childlike heart. Being retired has given me the time to put in print a lot of what our Lord has spoken to me. I know that you will be blessed with this and future books.

Book excerpt: John R. Freeman, born in Chicago in the middle of the twentieth century, must come to grips with a series of personal disasters and bad choices, which force him ever deeper into an abyss of despair. Faced with the imminent destruction of his life, will he finally find redemption, mercy, and peace? Expanding on the scene of the crucifixion as described in the gospel of St. Luke, The Good Thief recreates the life of the penitent thief in an accessible, modern-day setting, providing the reader an empathetic glimpse into the meaning of this enigmatic bible character. Robert Vall was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and began writing full time after a varied career in business, including several years managing his own company. Reflecting on his life so far, Rob sees Gods guiding hand in good times and bad. Having experienced the mercy of God in so many palpable ways, Rob feels a strong desire to impart hope to others who are unaware, or unsure of, Gods great love for them.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2007 Catholic Press Association Award Winner! In Hear, O Heavens and Listen, O Earth, Joan E. Cook guides students of theology, Scripture, and ministry in reading the prophetic books according to the current methodologies for biblical study. She encourages readers to apply the messages of the prophets to contemporary religious and social concerns. Cook focuses on how to read the Old Testament books of the prophets and addresses the pastoral implications. The study proceeds chronologically and biblical quotations and references are based on the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. Cook encourages students to engage the biblical text and suggests points for reflection and questions for thought and action based on each of the prophetic books. Chapters are Introductory Topics, The Early Prophets, The Eighth Century Prophets in the Northern Kingdom, The Seventh Century Prophets Zephaniah, Nahum, and Habakkuk, Jeremiah, Lamentations, and Baruch, Ezekiel and Obadiah, Exile: Isaiah of Babylon, The Second Temple Period: Third Isaiah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi, Joel and Jonah, and Conclusion. Joan E. Cook, SC, teaches Scripture at Georgetown University. She is the author of Hannah's Desire, God's Design: Early Interpretation of the Story of Hannah as well as numerous articles on biblical women and biblical prayer.

In this practical, story-rich guidebook, international teacher Larry Kreider shows believers how to develop a listening relationship with the Lord. Speak Lord, I'm Listening explores the multiple ways Christians can hear the voice of God in today's world. It offers real-life examples of how God teaches His followers to listen. Contains tips in each chapter for distinguishing His voice from the noise of Satan's interference. Christians across the denominational spectrum will develop a closer and deeper relationship with God as they learn fifty unique ways to listen to Him. You will realize that God was speaking to you all along but, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, you didn't know it was Him!

Then, one miraculous day when Harry is twelve years old, steamship tickets arrive in the mail, sent by an anonymous benefactor. Suddenly, a new life full of the promise of prosperity seems possible–and the family sets sail for America, meeting relatives in Chicago. For a time, they get a taste of the good life: electric lights, a bathtub, a telephone. But soon the harsh realities of the Great Depression envelop them. Skeletons in the family closet come to light, mafiosi darken their doorstep, family members are lost, and dreams are shattered. In the face of so much loss, Harry and his mother must make a fateful decision–one that will change their lives forever. And though he has struggled for so long, there is an incredible bounty waiting for Harry in New York: his future wife, Ruby. It is their romance that will finally bring the peace and happiness that Harry’s mother always dreamed was possible.
