Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. Books from that period are often spoiled by imperfections that did not exist in the original. Imperfections could be in the form of blurred text, photographs, or missing pages. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk. Book Synopsis The Urban Frontier by : Richard C. Wade
Download or read book The Urban Frontier written by Richard C. Wade and published by University of Illinois Press. This book was released on 1959 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When The Urban Frontier was first published it roused attention because it held that settlers made a concerted effort to bring established institutions and ways to their new country. This differed markedly from the then-dominant Turnerian hypothesis that a culture's identity and behavior was determined by its history and experience in a particular social and physical environment. The Urban Frontier is still considered one of the most important books in urban history. This printing of the now-classic Wade volume features a new introduction by Zane L. Miller.
Book Synopsis Petitions of the Early Inhabitants of Kentucky to the General Assembly of Virginia, 1769 to 1792 by : James Rood Robertson
Download or read book Petitions of the Early Inhabitants of Kentucky to the General Assembly of Virginia, 1769 to 1792 written by James Rood Robertson and published by Genealogical Publishing Com. This book was released on 2009-05 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work contains a collection of legislative petitions presented to the General Assembly of Virginia by residents of Kentucky County when it was a part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The topics that make up the subject matter of the petitions may be summed as follows: The system of landholding, the establishment of courts, the organization of a militia, the organization of the community into counties and towns, the perfecting of a medium of exchange, the inspection of tobacco, the foundation of an educational system, the status of slavery in the western country, and the movement toward separation from Virginia. The list of names attached to the petitions--here printed separately and in alphabetical order--is of a paramount interest to the genealogist as it embodies the names of approximately 5,000 of Kentucky's earliest settlers. Many of these are names that will be met with in no other source, since they occur, for the most part, prior to the keeping of public records. Altogether, the names on the petitions appear to be representative of the ethnic composition of the pioneer population of Kentucky.

Two centuries later, Transylvania University maintains its commitment to the highest standards of the liberal arts education. Download or read book Westward into Kentucky written by Chester Raymond Young and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2021-12-14 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In his youth Daniel Trabue (1760–1840) served as a Virginia soldier in the Revolutionary War. After three years of service on the Kentucky frontier, he returned home to participate as a sutler in the Yorktown campaign. Following the war he settled in the Piedmont, but by 1785 his yearning to return westward led him to take his family to Kentucky, where they settled for a few years in the upper Green River country. He recorded his narrative in 1827, in the town of Columbia, of which he was a founder. A keen observer of people and events, Trabue captures experiences of everyday life in both the Piedmont and frontier Kentucky. His notes on the settling of Kentucky touch on many important moments in the opening of the Bluegrass region.
