Book Synopsis Prospecting for Oil and Gas (Classic Reprint) by : L. S. Panyity
Download or read book Prospecting for Oil and Gas (Classic Reprint) written by L. S. Panyity and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-06 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Prospecting for Oil and Gas To that class who are interested only in the investing or speculating features of the industry, geology is almost unknown. Advertisements or prospectuses of oil and gas ventures are often coupled with a geological report, and whether such report is merely an extract or is given in full, the investing public is unable to analyze its contents and pass judgment upon its merits. There are valuable books written on this subject, the majority of which are intended for the professional geologist, and although invaluable to him, they are too technical or cover only a certain branch of oil and gas prospecting and producing. The profes sioual geologist will notice that in this book an attempt is made to put before practical oil men and the general public the various tools and methods of the scientific oil and gas prospector of the present day, avoiding lengthy discussions and confining its scope mostly to descriptions and explanations, by means of which it is hoped that those interested will be brought into a more intimate relationship with the geologist, and thus they may realize just what may be expected of him and how much service he may render in eliminating a great number of unnecessary chance methods frequently used at the present day. Another class of readers to whom the author hopes this treatise will be of assistance is composed of those who intend to take up and follow the profession of Oil and Gas Geology. For them it may serve as an elementary work on the subject and form an outline of the various phases of study that make up this sub jcet. They will find the different branches of the science treated briefly, and along those lines which will lead the student in his further study and researches. In short, the methods of the leading oil and gas companies are described in a brief manner, and those investigating will find them in this volume. Book Synopsis Oil Field Production Geology by : Mike Shepherd
Download or read book Oil Field Production Geology written by Mike Shepherd and published by AAPG. This book was released on 2009-09-20 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This book was written for students, new professionals in oil companies, and for anyone with an interest in reservoir geology. It explains the background to production geology in the context of oil field subsurface operations. It also gives practical guidelines as to how a production geologist can analyze the reservoir geology and fluid flow characteristics of an oil field with the aim of improving hydrocarbon recovery. Advice is given on how to search for the remaining oil volumes in a producing field, where these pockets are typically found, and then how to plan wells to target these volumes."--Publisher's description.

Book Synopsis Practical Oil Geology by : Dorsey Hager
Download or read book Practical Oil Geology written by Dorsey Hager and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-24 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Practical Oil Geology: The Application of Geology to Oil Field Problems In making a revision of the first edition the author wishes especially to thank Messrs. Johnson and Huntley of Pittsburgh, and Fred Pack on the United States Geological Survey, for their published criticisms of the first edition of "Practical Oil Geology." He also wishes to thank his many friends and fellow geologists and engineers, especially Mowry Bates and J. W. Lewis of Tulsa, for their suggestions. The industry is so extensive and the work of the geologist is so broad that the writer feels he has but touched on the many uses of geology in oil-field practice, but he hopes the book will prove useful. Certainly it has already more than fulfilled the writer's expectations for which he is deeply appreciative to the reading public. Download or read book Engineering Geology (Classic Reprint) written by Heinrich Ries and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 766 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Engineering Geology There are probably but few people of observation and practical experience who doubt the value of proper geological training for the engineer, since he must be prepared to meet and often to solve many problems which involve geological principles. For such knowledge it is necessary that the engineer Should have adequate training in at least those fundamental principles of geology which relate to engineering problems. Among the important questions which the engineer has to consider are the character of the common rocks in their use for building stone and road material; the structure of rocks in relation to tunneling opera tions, dam and reservoir foundations, landslides, etc.; the geological conditions affecting and controlling underground water supplies; the relation of soils to sewage disposal and water purification, etc. More over, some familiarity with such materials as fuels (coal, oil and gas), clays, cements, etc., is also necessary. There may be difference of opinion as to whether the civil engineer should be grounded in abstract geological principles and afterwards allowed to apply them in the field, or whether the exposition of the necessary principles should be illustrated in each instance by actual cases, which show the application of the principle. The first method does not usually appeal to those who have had much practical experience, nor does it find much favor with the engineering student; moreover, it can hardly be considered successful from the pedagogic standpoint.
