This book was released on 2007-12-24 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Field emission is a phenomenon described by quantum mechanics. Its emission capability is millions times higher than that of any other known types of electron emission. Nowadays this phenomenon is experiencing a new life due to wonderful applications in the atomic resolution microscopy, in electronic holography, and in the vacuum micro- and nanoelectronics in general. The main field emission properties, and some most remarkable experimental facts and applications, are described in this book.

Book Synopsis Materials Issues in Vacuum Microelectronics: Volume 509 by : Wei Zhu
Download or read book Materials Issues in Vacuum Microelectronics: Volume 509 written by Wei Zhu and published by Mrs Proceedings. This book was released on 1998-08-21 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 31 papers, about half of the symposium's presentations, were selected to provide a representative sampling of the present status of materials used in vacuum microelectronics. They range across all aspects of electron field emission from theory and physical mechanisms to device structure, but many focus on the fabrication, characterization, and modeling of electron emissive materials. The sections cover field-emitter arrays and applications, carbon and wide-bandgap cathodes, and other cathode materials. Reproduced from typescripts. Book Synopsis Modern Developments in Vacuum Electron Sources by : Georg Gaertner
Download or read book Modern Developments in Vacuum Electron Sources written by Georg Gaertner and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-09 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an overview of modern cathodes and electron emitters for vacuum tubes and vacuum electron devices in general. It covers the latest developments in field emission theory as well as new methods towards improving thermionic and cold cathodes. It addresses thermionic cathodes, such as oxide cathodes, impregnated and scandate cathodes, as well as photocathodes and field emitters – the latter comprising carbon nanotubes, graphene and Spindt-type emitter arrays. Despite the rise and fall of the once dominant types of vacuum tubes, such as radio valves and cathode ray tubes, cathodes are continually being improved upon as new applications with increased demands arise, for example in electron beam lithography, high-power and high-frequency microwave tubes, terahertz imaging and electron sources for accelerators. Written by 17 experts in the field, the book presents the latest developments in cathodes needed for these applications, discussing the state of the art and addressing future trends.

Book Synopsis Field-Emitter Arrays for RF Vacuum Microelectronics by :
Download or read book Field-Emitter Arrays for RF Vacuum Microelectronics written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SRI International has completed the ninth quarter of a program to develop field-emitter arrays for vacuum microelectronics. We have met the first- phase program goals of 5 mA total emission, with a current density of 5 A/sq cm for at least 2 hours and demonstrated modulation of the emission current at a frequency of 1 GHz. An evaluation was made of deposition processes and cone materials that could lead to improved (tall and sharp) cone geometries for low- capacitance cathode fabrication. Principal efforts involved investigation of the limited emission of high-frequency cathode samples, continued stability tests on high-frequency cathodes to determine the effectiveness of processes designed to avoid contamination, and capacitance measurements on cathode samples incorporating an electrostatic shield designed to prevent fringing fields from the base electrode from influencing the trajectories of emitted electrons.
