Book Synopsis Few-Body Problems in Particle, Nuclear, Atomic, and Molecular Physics by : Jean-Louis Ballot
Download or read book Few-Body Problems in Particle, Nuclear, Atomic, and Molecular Physics written by Jean-Louis Ballot and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1987 Fontevraud Conference gathered more than 100 physicists for the purpose of discussing the latest developments of research on few-body problems. In addition to participants from most European countries representatives from Brazil, Canada, Israel, Japan, South Africa, and the USA took part in the meeting. In the conference program special emphasis was laid on bringing together the various fields, where few-body problems play an important role. Beyond the traditional areas of nuclear and particle physics, in recent years interest has been focussed especially on atomic and molecular physics. This developent is due to the design of new techniques for solving few-body problems under rather general premises. The proceedings contain all plenary talks and the contributions presented orally at the conference. They cover such topics as: few-quark systems and short-range phenomena, two- and three-body forces in quark as well as nucleonic systems, few-hadron bound states, response of few-body systems to electromagnetic and hadronic probes, form factors, hypernuclei, atomic and molecular few-body systems, hyperspherical method, separable expansions, numerical techniques, etc. It appears that recently, even in one year after the Tokyo-Sendai Conference, much progress has been achieved in research on various few-body systems. The present volume gives a comprehensive summary of the modern state of the art and at the same time a proper account of the most recent results obtained in the different institutions and laboratories.

Book Synopsis The Few Body Problem by : F. S. Levin
Download or read book The Few Body Problem written by F. S. Levin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Few Body Problem covers the proceedings of the Ninth International Conference on the Few Body Problem, held in Eugene, Oregon, USA on August 17-23, 1980. The book focuses on relativistic and particle physics, intermediate energy physics, nuclear, atomic, and molecular physics, and chemistry. The selection first offers information on nucleon-nucleon interaction in applications, including derivation of the nucleon-nucleon potential, nuclear many-body problem, and classic nuclear structure. The text also looks at three- and four-nucleon systems and graphs of three-body wave functions. The publication elaborates on K-meson experiments and non-mesonic few-nucleon phenomena. Topics include tests of invariance principles, properties of nuclei, dynamics, and hypernuclear physics. The manuscript also ponders on the Coulomb problem, atomic, molecular, and nuclear collisions, and muon capture in hydrogen isotopes. The selection is a dependable reference for readers interested in the few body problem.
Book Synopsis Few-body Problems by : E Hadjimichael
Download or read book Few-body Problems written by E Hadjimichael and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1986-02-01 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume consists of two review articles. E Hadjimichael's contribution, 'The Nuclear Three-Body Systems', concentrates on recent experimental and theoretical progress achieved in the field. Together with a pedagogical survey of the theoretical framework extensive discussion on the 3N system in the continuum and reactions of electromagnetic probes with 3N systems are provided. 'Four-Nucleon Transfer Reactions' by W Oelert reviews many aspects of α-particle transfer studies. A careful and balanced presentation of both theory and experiment is given. Reasonable agreement between the two is observed. Both reviews contain copious reference lists.

Book Synopsis Recent Progress in Few-Body Physics by : N. A. Orr
Download or read book Recent Progress in Few-Body Physics written by N. A. Orr and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-06 with total page 968 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few-body physics covers a rich and wide variety of phenomena, ranging from the very lowest energy scales of atomic and molecular physics to high-energy particle physics. The papers contained in the present volume provide an apercu of recent progress in the field from both the theoretical and experimental perspectives and are based on work presented at the “22nd International Conference on Few-Body Problems in Physics”. This book is geared towards academics and graduate students involved in the study of systems which present few-body characteristics and those interested in the related mathematical and computational techniques.
Book Synopsis Few Particle Problems by : Ivo Slaus
Download or read book Few Particle Problems written by Ivo Slaus and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 1053 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few Particle Problems in the Nuclear Interaction emerged from the International Conference on Few Particle Problems in the Nuclear Interaction held in Los Angeles, from August 28-September 1, 1972. The aim of the conference was to discuss recent developments in low and medium energy few-particle problems. This included the fields of the nuclear three-body problem; nuclear forces (in particular, three-body forces); symmetries; and the interaction of mesons, leptons, and photons with few-nucleon systems. Special sessions were also devoted to the application of the results and techniques of the few-particle research to the problems of other fields, in particular nuclear structure and astrophysics. The conference was organized into nine plenary sessions and 13 parallel sessions. This volume contains 184 papers presented during the nine sessions on the following topics: the nucleon-nucleon interaction; three-body forces; hypernuclear systems; symmetries; three-body problems; multiparticle reactions; proposed studies of few-nucleon systems with meson factories; few-nucleon systems and leptons, mesons, and photons; and applications.
Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Nuclear Physics by : Noboru Takigawa
Download or read book Fundamentals of Nuclear Physics written by Noboru Takigawa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-12 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the current understanding of the fundamentals of nuclear physics by referring to key experimental data and by providing a theoretical understanding of principal nuclear properties. It primarily covers the structure of nuclei at low excitation in detail. It also examines nuclear forces and decay properties. In addition to fundamentals, the book treats several new research areas such as non-relativistic as well as relativistic Hartree–Fock calculations, the synthesis of super-heavy elements, the quantum chromodynamics phase diagram, and nucleosynthesis in stars, to convey to readers the flavor of current research frontiers in nuclear physics. The authors explain semi-classical arguments and derivation of its formulae. In these ways an intuitive understanding of complex nuclear phenomena is provided. The book is aimed at graduate school students as well as junior and senior undergraduate students and postdoctoral fellows. It is also useful for researchers to update their knowledge of diverse fields of nuclear structure. The book explains how basic physics such as quantum mechanics and statistical physics, as well as basic physical mathematics, is used to describe nuclear phenomena. A number of questions are given from place to place as supplements to the text.
