These constitute the first-half of the present volume. The other half consists of selections - with occasional alterations and abbreviations - from a small and excellent volume, published many years ago without any author's name, and now out of print. It is humbly trusted that this attempt to remove a hindrance to family religion, may, through God's blessing, have some success. It is known that many who value family prayer are prevented from giving this privilege to their households, by the want of ability to express themselves in what they think becoming language.
