Book excerpt: Close to 60 percent of young people who went to church as teens drop out after high school. Now the bestselling author of unChristian trains his researcher's eye on these young believers. Where Kinnaman's first book unChristian showed the world what outsiders aged 16-29 think of Christianity, You Lost Me shows why younger Christians aged 16-29 are leaving the church and rethinking their faith. Based on new research, You Lost Me shows pastors, church leaders, and parents how we have failed to equip young people to live "in but not of" the world and how this has serious long-term consequences. More importantly, Kinnaman offers ideas on how to help young people develop and maintain a vibrant faith that they embrace over a lifetime.

Book excerpt: The Life Skills Curriculum was created to encourage students to interact with others from a Biblical perspective. The Life Skills Curriculum is a 14 week curriculum consisting of lesson plans, specially designed lesson activities, guided practice, life skills goals, end of unit field trips, and other helpful resources. Our hope is that The Life Skills Curriculum can equip students in sharing the love of God to the best of their ability. Excerpt from The Life Skills Curriculum: "Preparing our children and/or students to be lights in this world requires faith in Jesus Christ and a balance of Biblical, academic, and experiential knowledge. If our greatest commandments are to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:34-40), then we must show and teach the upcoming generations how to best accomplish those tasks. If we do not best prepare our children for what they will experience in this world and how to handle it, someone or something else will. While many of us gallantly prepare our children spiritually and academically, there are few resources available that help us prepare our children for practical life experiences. This curriculum was created from a Biblical worldview to help prepare our children to be comfortable in varying situations and engage with others to be a light for Jesus Christ."

Book excerpt: We're all doing our best to raise polite, Godly children. Through this 25 week course, you will walk with your child(ren) through basic concepts of manners and etiquette to having serious conversations about finances, friendship, and what it means to live biblically in a world where it's easy to do anything but that. This is a discussion-based course, designed for ages 6-16 where Mom (or Dad!) can tailor the conversations to your family's rules, values, and preferences, and do so according to the maturity level of your kids. Each lesson contains a main concept, guidance from Scripture, and then discussion points and/or activities to do together to drive the message home. Scripture references are from a variety of Bibles. My personal study Bible is a New King James, my secondary study Bible is an NIV, and I sometimes use my husband's or my son's Bible. As well, sometimes I will use a New American Standard translation for a particular verse if I feel the translation is the same but with language that may be easier for children to understand (I remember specifically Proverbs 11:13 for this- "He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter."). You could definitely have a Bible on hand and look the verses up with your child to review different translations. In our home, we do these lessons on Wednesdays over lunch and then review the concepts within that lesson throughout the following week.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Children in today's world are inundated with information about who to be, what to do and how to live. But what if there was a way to teach children how to manage priorities, focus on goals and be a positive influence on the world around them? The Leader in Meis that programme. It's based on a hugely successful initiative carried out at the A.B. Combs Elementary School in North Carolina. To hear the parents of A. B Combs talk about the school is to be amazed. In 1999, the school debuted a programme that taught The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Peopleto a pilot group of students. The parents reported an incredible change in their children, who blossomed under the programme. By the end of the following year the average end-of-grade scores had leapt from 84 to 94. This book will launch the message onto a much larger platform. Stephen R. Covey takes the 7 Habits, that have already changed the lives of millions of people, and shows how children can use them as they develop. Those habits -- be proactive, begin with the end in mind, put first things first, think win-win, seek to understand and then to be understood, synergize, and sharpen the saw -- are critical skills to learn at a young age and bring incredible results, proving that it's never too early to teach someone how to live well.
