He then traveled to Akron, Ohio, at the beginning of July, and he remained there for a little more than a week before going on to Seattle, Washington. After spending a week in Seattle, he visited San Francisco for a week and returned to Los Angeles at the end of July, where he remained until the end of the third week in August. The contents of this volume are divided into eight sections, as follows: 1. Four messages given in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 15 through 19. These messages are included in this volume under the title Being Saved in Christ's Life and Walking according to the Spirit for the Building Up of the Body of Christ. 2. Seven messages given in Akron, Ohio, from July 2 through 5. There is no record of the speaking of messages 2, 3, and 6 of this series. Thirteen messages given in Seattle, Washington, from July 12 through 18. These messages are included in this volume under the title Enjoying the All-inclusive Christ as the Life-giving Spirit for the Fulfillment of God's Eternal Purpose. 5. Thirteen messages given in San Francisco, California, from July 19 through 25. They are included in this volume under the title Experiencing Christ as the Spirit for the Recovery of the Church as the Body of Christ and the House of God. 6. Eight messages given in Los Angeles, California, from July 30 through August 8. These messages are published in this volume under the title Overcoming the Church's Degradation to Produce the Man-child and the Bride for the Fulfillment of God's Purpose. 7. Twenty-four messages given in Los Angeles, California, in the summer of 1971. These messages were previously published only in English in a book entitled The Visions of Ezekiel. Later, these messages were combined with another set of twenty-four messages on Ezekiel given in Taipei, Taiwan, in the autumn of 1961. The combined set of messages was published as the Life-study of Ezekiel. Neither the Life-study of Ezekiel nor the messages that were previously published in English in the book entitled The Visions of Ezekiel are included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. 8. Rushdoony written for the Chalcedon Report between 1965 and 2001 along with several transcripts of his recorded talks. The large volume The Roots of Reconstruction only contained his Chalcedon Report essays up until 1985, so most of the essays included in Faith & Action were unavailable to readers for many years until now. In order to make the author’s knowledge more accessible, this three-volume collection features some of the most extensive indexing we’ve ever done including a General Index, a History Index, a Scripture Index, a Works Cited Index, and a Chalcedon Report Directory. A total of 183 pages of indexing! This handsome set of books is a must have for any serious library. The central theme of this collection of essays is Christian Reconstruction, which to Rushdoony meant the responsibility of Christian citizenship in the Kingdom of God. For him, his central drive behind his research and writing was to move men to faith and action. Rushdoony was primarily an essayist who vigorously and prolifically wrote on a multiplicity of subjects, issues, and disciplines. Despite his being critical of both the contemporary church for its compromise and the humanistic state for its will to be as God, these essays are replete with Rushdoony’s undying faith in the victory of God in history. Rushdoony’s “big idea” was Christian Reconstruction which centered not on a pursuit of political power but rather an equipping of Christians to take back government by means of self-government in terms of God’s law. This three-volume collection will no doubt serve the larger church for many generations as they seek first the Kingdom of God in their spheres, and in their times.

Having a strong sense of faith is essential to successfully living day to day, but finding a foothold in tumultuous times can still be very difficult. What is our answer? We have to keep our eyes on Jesus. We have to remember our goal and not let the distractions of a world run amok fracture our concentration. That is easier said than done. In the summer of 2014, a couple living on Lake Whitney in Central Texas had the floor fall out from under their feet, literally. The limestone cliff on which their home was built fractured, leaving the back half of their house dangling 75 feet over the water. Where is our faith when the floor falls out from under us? How do we find God then? Or do we throw up our hands in despair, accepting that there is nothing we can do? God encourages us to keep our faith in him. Just like a child, if we trust in his goodness even when the promises don't come, we will never lose the sense of security that can only come from belief in a higher being. God is that higher being, and he treasures us. When we have faith in him, he will reciprocate our outpouring of trust, and he will be there for us every time. Even when the ground falls away underneath our feet. Let's look up. God is our safety net, and when all else falls away, his arms are there to catch us. We will find our security in him.
