Download or read book Prayer & Bible Band Topics: WIQ 2019-2020 (Dec-Feb) [eBook] written by Lee Van Zandt and published by Church Of God In Christ Publishing House. This book was released on 2019-11-01 with total page 89 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This quarter I want to talk about some of the things that we in the Church Of God In Christ do and have done for many years. Sometimes we do things and never really know or understand why we do them. Some questions we can answer through God's Word and others through the thoughts of the early Saints. We must understand that some things were put in place and became a tradition because of someone's opinion. Everyone has opinions, but it doesn't mean that it's right or wrong, it's just an opinion. Sometimes it's a good opinion, but not workable for the good of all at any given time. So, as we study, let's remember that God's Word does not have private interpretations. For the Word says, “Let every man be a liar, but God's Word is the truth” (Romans 3:4a).

Book excerpt: As we have moved into the 21st century, we have seen a rise in curiosity about the supernatural. Movies such as Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings dabble in the occult and have glorified such things as black magic and casting spells by wizards as fun and harmless. In reality, this concept of the occult can be traced back centuries, and God forbids the occult and its practices and considers them to be an abomination. In fact, according to Scriptures, witchcraft, séances, casting of spells, conjuring the dead, and telling fortunes are all tools of the occult. These tools of the occult are not as harmless as many people believe but are invitations of demonic spirits into our lives and surroundings.

This book was released on 2019-11-01 with total page 83 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It would be impossible to over-emphasize the prominence of love as a defining virtue in the Christian life. For instance, it is defined as the evidence that someone is born of God. It constitutes the connection between the Lord Jesus and his Church, and it is the well-spring of all fellowship. It is the premier fruit of the Spirit, from which all the other fruit proceed. And it the prerequisite for the operation of all spiritual gifts and disciplines. Love touches upon every aspect of our saved lives. Despite its importance to Christian doctrine and conduct, perhaps no other topic is given such short shrift in the teaching ministry. Our discussions of love are often superficial and glib. This quarter's World Mission Topics series, "The Love Seminar," is designed to address that deficit. In it, we will define natural and supernatural love. We will examine the display of God's love in the Old and New Testaments. And finally, explore the implications of the scriptural command that we exhibit love in all our relationships.

Biblical literacy is at an unprecedented low amongst believers, and it seems as if there is no end to where this could lead to in our churches. The COGIC Sunday School department desires to help aid literacy by providing quality supplemental lesson material. Enlisting help from scholars across the country, the department wrote the Interpretative Expository, an exposition for each lesson of the Sunday School curriculum. Also, to assist pastors, preachers, missionaries, and laity with sermon subjects and preparation, our team has included a sample sermon outline from one of the lessons. Reemphasize the message of Sunday School by preaching a message from the text of the lesson.

Download or read book Ikigai written by Héctor García and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2017-08-29 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER • 2 MILLION+ COPIES SOLD WORLDWIDE “Workers looking for more fulfilling positions should start by identifying their ikigai.” ―Business Insider “One of the unintended—yet positive—consequences of the [pandemic] is that it is forcing people to reevaluate their jobs, careers, and lives. Use this time wisely, find your personal ikigai, and live your best life.” ―Forbes Find your ikigai (pronounced ee-key-guy) to live longer and bring more meaning and joy to all your days. “Only staying active will make you want to live a hundred years.” —Japanese proverb According to the Japanese, everyone has an ikigai—a reason for living. And according to the residents of the Japanese village with the world’s longest-living people, finding it is the key to a happier and longer life. Having a strong sense of ikigai—where what you love, what you’re good at, what you can get paid for, and what the world needs all overlap—means that each day is infused with meaning. It’s the reason we get up in the morning. It’s also the reason many Japanese never really retire (in fact there’s no word in Japanese that means retire in the sense it does in English): They remain active and work at what they enjoy, because they’ve found a real purpose in life—the happiness of always being busy. In researching this book, the authors interviewed the residents of the Japanese village with the highest percentage of 100-year-olds—one of the world’s Blue Zones. Ikigai reveals the secrets to their longevity and happiness: how they eat, how they move, how they work, how they foster collaboration and community, and—their best-kept secret—how they find the ikigai that brings satisfaction to their lives. And it provides practical tools to help you discover your own ikigai. Because who doesn’t want to find happiness in every day?

Book excerpt: From the revered teacher and bestselling author of such classic Christian works as Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters comes a collection that gathers the best of C. S. Lewis’s practical advice on how to embody a Christian life. The most famous adherent and defender of Christianity in the twentieth century, C. S. Lewis has long influenced our perceptions and understanding of the faith. More than fifty years after his death, Lewis’s arguments remain extraordinarily persuasive because they originate from his deep insights into the Christian life itself. Only an intellectual of such profound faith could form such cogent and compelling reasons for its truth. How to Be a Christian brings together the best of Lewis’s insights on Christian practice and its expression in our daily lives. Cultivated from his many essays, articles, and letters, as well as his classic works, this illuminating and thought-provoking collection provides practical wisdom and direction Christians can use to nurture their faith and become more devout disciples of Christ. By provoking readers to more carefully ponder their faith, How to Be a Christian can help readers forge a deeper understanding of their personal beliefs and what is means to be a Christian, and strengthen their profound relationship with God.

Book Synopsis Governance and Service Delivery by : Anna Wetterberg
Download or read book Governance and Service Delivery written by Anna Wetterberg and published by RTI Press. This book was released on 2016-09-25 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: RTI International has extensive experience implementing international donor-funded programs and projects, including single-sector and multisector policy and service-delivery improvement efforts, as well as governance and public management reforms. Drawing on that experience, this collection examines six recent RTI International projects, funded mostly by the United States Agency for International Development, that pursued several different paths to integrating service delivery and governance through engaging citizens, public officials, and service providers on issues related to accountability and sectoral services. The six cases illustrate the multiple ways in which citizen participation in accountability, called social accountability, can lead to positive effects on governance, citizen empowerment, and service delivery. The analysis focuses on both the intended and actual effects, and unpacks the influence of context on implementation and the outcomes achieved.
