Book excerpt: Humor, Charm, Faith, and more Mouth-watering Recipes In her newest book, Faith, Family, Friends, and Fried Chicken 2, Sherry-Marie Perguson continues her story-telling style that has been described as "Erma Bombeck meets Joel Osteen, and they have dinner together," and "Fried Green Tomatoes meets The Notebook." This time around, however, she takes a walk down memory lane, side by side with her loving family and friends, profiling a true American-style life oozing with Southern charm. This second part of Sherry-Marie's journey will take you from stealing watermelons growing in a creek, to a beloved baby doll's backyard funeral, to a prayer being unbelievably answered with almost an entire professional soccer team, and even a ride-a-long with a professional NASCAR driver. As in her previous book, Sherry-Marie is very straight forward of her belief in Faith, and continues to share even more palate-pleasing recipes from her own background, and from the cookbooks of her family and friends.

This book was released on 2023-04-26 with total page 707 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much of the world we live in is perceived by many as dangerous and unfriendly. Well into his early adulthood, the author thought so, to the extent that he had little interest in traveling outside the boundaries of his homeland. He certainly lacked any interest whatsoever in traveling overseas. While the author travelled extensively throughout the United States for work-related as well as personal purposes, preplanning of trip details was the norm. Assistance of tourist agencies was utilized regularly in order to assure comfort and safety. Overnight accommodations were almost always prearranged. All plans focused on assuring comfort and convenience. While the author proclaimed Christian faith early in his professional career, that proclamation did not extend to sharing that faith with others outside the United States or even locally outside the author's comfort zone. The author refrained from personally interacting with people of unfamiliar cultures, let alone those in foreign locales deemed difficult or even impossible to reach and interact with. Then an incredible transformation took place in the author's life. Roughly thirteen years into the author's professional career, his fear of the unknown and unfamiliar cultures was miraculously removed from his being. Shortly after, his staunch commitment to advance planning of trip details was eradicated little by little. Following the removal of fear of the unknown from the author's persona, he was, time and again, drawn into experiences falling further and further outside his previous comfort zone. Over time, the author was increasingly blessed with amazing new friendships overseas, wonderful ties with families abroad, and incredible faith-sharing opportunities in foreign lands--"independent" travels that have taken him to nearly ninety countries worldwide. Ron's amazing interactional experiences were regularly intertwined with stunning events most would describe as unpredictable, inconceivable, or even impossible--and virtually always unforeseeable. Hence the title of this book, A Stunning World of Faith, Family, and Friendship--and the Unforeseeable. In many instances, the experiences described in these pages might appear to be grossly exaggerated or even fabricated. Hence the inclusion of numerous photos documenting the stunning truth.

Smart and sassy, Ashlynne expects to inherit the Parks & Avenues magazine empire. But her family has other ideas. Feeling she needs to understand the world beyond, they ship her off to Testament, North Carolina, for a little “learning about life." William Decker grew up in a small town with dreams of big-city success. But when the spoiled Ashlynne falls under his authority, her big city ways aren’t so appealing. Ashlynne’s attempt at “learn normal” ends with a wounded spirit, while William's “reach for the stars” attitude ends with a wounded heart. When these two journalists go head to head, the race is on to see if either will succeed in getting what they really want.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I grew up as a young boy in East Africa, in a country called Kenya. Had the same challenges and difficulties that every young boy faces growing up in Africa. I grew up in a Christian home. My parents were full-time ministers of the Gospel with The Salvation Army Evangelical organization. I am the fourth born in a family of three older sisters and three younger brothers. Seven of us grew up in the same home where the fear of God, discipline and respect for authority was emphasized. I really can't remember a day we missed church as a family. I can't remember a day we did not have family devotion every night before we went to bed. These are small and important things that my parents emphasized in our lives that gave us the foundation for life that has helped us over the years. They taught us to put God first in our lives and that form of discipline has stayed with most of my family members. My parents are now both deceased. However, the legacy and upbringing that they impacted in our lives has made us who we are today. "Thank you dad and mom for your tireless efforts to bring us up in the best way you thought for us." As a result of their assignments as Salvation Army ministers of the Gospel, we travelled and lived in different parts of Kenya. I was born in the Coastal port town of Mombasa. My younger brothers Andrew and Bramwel were born in Nakuru. Peter Mwololo was born in Tesoland, Western Kenya. My older sisters: Florence and Tru Mwololo were born in Bunyore, Kenya. Catherine was born in Nakuru too. Do you see the diversity even in our places of birth? Although we speak Kamba as our ethnic tribe, we were born in parts of Kenya that speak different dialects than the one we speak. We therefore grew up speaking different tribes in respect to the places where our parents were on their mission assignments. We were kind of missionaries in Kenya. This book is about my life with family, the popular game of soccer and how it influenced my life, and my faith in God and My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I believe my family life, my career as a semi-pro soccer player and my faith have made me who I am today. This book is also about people who grew were around me, including my family members, soccer mates right from junior high, high school , during my employment period and playing at top flight and International levels of soccer.I pray that as you read this book, you will be encouraged and motivated to realize that your life has a purpose no matter what your upbringing is and where you were born. You have a story to tell and you are not just an accident going to happen somewhere. Write your own autobiography to encourage and help somebody who feels like they have no identity in this life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In late August of 2011, Shahbaz Taseer was driving to his office in Lahore, Pakistan when he was dragged from his car at gunpoint and kidnapped by a group of Taliban-affiliated terrorists. Just seven months earlier, his father, Salman Taseer, the governor of Punjab Province, had been shot dead by his guard for speaking out against Pakistan's blasphemy laws. For almost five years Shahbaz was held captive, moved ever-deeper into the lawless Hindu Kush, frequently tortured and forced to endure extreme cruelty, his fate resting on his kidnappers' impossible demands and the uneasy alliances between his captors, the Taliban and ISIS. Lost to the World is the remarkable true story of Taseer's time in captivity, and of his astonishing escape. It is a story of extraordinary faith, bravery and sorrow, with moments of kindness, humour and empathy, offering a hopeful light in the dark years of his imprisonment. While deeply harrowing, this tale is also about resilience. Taseer countered his captors' narrative of a holy war by immersing himself in the Quran in search of hope and a means to see his own humanity under even the most inhumane conditions, and ultimately to find a way back to his family.

Book excerpt: NFL linebacker, speaker, podcaster, and humanitarian Sam Acho gives a blueprint for taking off our masks and living lives of genuine authenticity. Most of us hide. We play small and don't live up to our full potential. Sam Acho was one of those people. As an NFL linebacker, for example, he earned his MBA but told no one because he was afraid of what people might think if they found out that he cared about things that weren't "normal" for his profession. After many years of hiding himself, the person he had become had no connection to the real Sam. Only when he lost a friend and a mentor did he realize he was doing it all wrong--just like many us do, when we try to become someone we're not. All the while, we ignore the unique gifts and talents and personality we truly possess. But there is another way of living: Let the world see you. Your quirks, your passions, and your inner desires were not given to you by accident. And the world needs your gifts. In Let the World See You, Sam Acho shares lessons from his own life as well as stories from others to reveal how you can overcome your fears and discover your true selves. Being the real you pays big. No one else has what you have. No one else can share what you share. Let the World See You helps crack the shell of people who are in hiding and reveals the benefits of a lifestyle lived on purpose.
