Elle tente de préciser les processus à l'oeuvre lors de la lecture de mots isolés chez ces enfants, en analysant leurs compétences langagières écrites en lien avec leurs compétences orales. Dans un premier temps, nous présentons les principaux acquis de la littérature à ce propos. Puis nous exposons quatre études expérimentales réalisées auprès d'enfants avec un TSLO ainsi qu'auprès d'enfants au développement typique, sur les sujets suivants : (1) la reconnaissance de mots écrits isolés en lecture à voix haute, (2) la reconnaissance de mots écrits isolés en lecture silencieuse, (3) la compréhension de mots écrits, (4) et les facteurs prédictifs de la lecture. Les résultats les plus marquants indiquent qu'en reconnaissance de mots écrits, les enfants avec un TSLO présentent un retard d'un peu plus de trois ans, en lecture à voix haute comme en lecture silencieuse. En tant que groupe, leur procédure de lecture phonologique apparaît moins efficiente que leur procédure orthographique. L'hétérogénéité interindividuelle demeure toutefois importante. Les enfants qui souffrent des troubles phonologiques expressifs les plus sévères sont ceux dont la procédure phonologique est la plus altérée. Quant à la compréhension de mots écrits isolés, elle apparaît coûteuse en termes de ressources de traitement. Enfin, les facteurs prédictifs de la lecture des enfants avec un TSLO sont identiques à ceux des enfants au développement typique, à l'exception d'un facteur original : chez les enfants avec un TSLO, l'instabilité phonologique est prédictive des capacités de lecture, contrairement aux enfants contrôles. Ce facteur mériterait de plus amples recherches.

L'objectif de notre mémoire est d'explorer les différentes habiletés liées à l'acquisition de l'orthographe et d'observer leur caractère prédictif sur les performances orthographiques en CE1. Pour ce faire, nous avons utilisé les données provenant d'une cohorte de 45 enfants, recrutés dans deux écoles de la métropole tourangelle, au Centre Référence pour les Troubles du Langage et des Apprentissages (CRTLA), ainsi qu'au sein de cabinets d'orthophonistes libéraux. Nous avons constitué deux groupes d'étude se répartissant ainsi : 21 enfants diagnostiqués avec TDL et 24 enfants présentant un développement typique (DT). Nos participants ont été évalués à trois temps différents (en GSM, en CP et en CE1) à l'aide de protocoles évaluant le langage oral, les habiletés liées au langage écrit, la lecture et l'orthographe. Nos analyses ont concerné les habiletés suivantes : la connaissance des lettres, la conscience phonologique, la dénomination rapide automatisée, la mémoire à court terme verbale, le niveau de lecture et d'orthographe en début d'apprentissage, le niveau de langage oral, les aptitudes non verbales et le graphisme. Les résultats montrent que les enfants avec TDL présentent des performances orthographiques significativement inférieures à celles des enfants à DT. Par ailleurs, la connaissance des lettres et le niveau de lecture en début d'apprentissage en CP présentent un fort aspect prédictif des performances orthographiques en CEl des enfants avec TDL. Ces résultats ont été discutés afin de déterminer leur intérêt dans la pratique clinique orthophonique. Ainsi, il paraît intéressant de soutenir précocement la connaissance des lettres et le développement de la lecture pour faciliter l'acquisition de l'orthographe chez les enfants avec TDL.

Peu d’études sont réalisées en langue française. La présente étude vise à préciser le profil de langage écrit de 14 enfants TSLO avec profil homogène à prédominance expressive phonologique-syntaxique de CE2, précédemment vus en CP pour 12 d’entre eux, de rechercher d’éventuels facteurs contributifs (en CE2) et prédictifs (en CP) au trouble du langage écrit et de décrire la trajectoire développementale du CP au CE2. A travers une étude transversale et une étude longitudinale, nous décrivons les profils retrouvés en lecture et en transcription des enfants de CE2, puis recherchons les variables contributives et potentiellement prédictives dans le profil psychométrique, langagier et de pré-requis en CE2 et CP. La grande majorité (85.7%, 12/14) des enfants présente en CE2 un trouble du décodage, 12 enfants (pas strictement les mêmes) ont des scores déficitaires en orthographe, 50% ont une compréhension altérée. Malgré le caractère restreint de l’échantillon, les résultats suggèrent la contribution de la connaissance des lettres sur le niveau de décodage au CE2, ainsi que le rôle majeur du décodage sur le niveau de compréhension écrite. En revanche, il n’a pas été dégagé de pouvoir prédictif significatif pour les mesures de DRA et des habiletés métaphonologiques, pourtant retrouvé dans la littérature. Notre population de TSLO présente par ailleurs des difficultés de mémoire de travail qui peuvent influencer ces profils de langage écrit. Nous ne dégageons pas de régularités saillantes dans les trajectoires développementales CP/CE2. Finalement, notre étude permet d’affirmer la grande fréquence des troubles du langage écrit chez les enfants TSLO à prédominance expressive de type phono-syntaxique, au CP et au CE2. La surveillance de ces enfants fortement à risque est nécessaire et une prise en charge précoce est indispensable
