Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A stunningly beautiful, full-color book of Buddhist paintings by twentieth-century Japanese artist Iwasaki Tsuneo, interpreted by Buddhist scholar Paula Arai. Little known during his lifetime, the Japanese biologist and artist Iwasaki Tsuneo (1917-2002) created a strikingly original and exquisitely intricate body of modern Buddhist artwork. His paintings depict themes ranging from classical Buddhist iconography to majestic views of our universe as revealed by science--all created with the use of painstakingly rendered miniature calligraphies of the Heart Sutra, one of the most important scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism. In this groundbreaking book, Paula Arai presents over fifty of Iwasaki's paintings, elucidating their Buddhist contexts and meanings as well as their intimate connections to Iwasaki's life as a war survivor, teacher, scientist, and devout Buddhist practitioner. Having been posthumously recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Iwasaki's paintings are sure to be regarded as an innovative and heartfelt contribution to the artistic legacy of twentieth-century Buddhism.

It has been written from that place of intuition and inspiration which exists inside of everyone and which can only be experienced directly. The mission of this book is to assist one in having that experience. Whereas many books are open-ended and leave room for a sequel, this one does not. Although the book is relatively short in pages, every word is powerful and the reader will not go away hungry after digesting the contents.

Book Synopsis COVID-19 and Existential Positive Psychology (PP2.0): The New Science of Self-Transcendence by : Paul T. P. Wong

This book was released on with total page 574 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the era of COVID-19, many people have suffered high levels of stress and mental health problems. To cope with the widespread of suffering (physical, psychological, social, and economical) the positive psychology of personal happiness is no longer the sole approach to examine personal wellbeing. Other approaches such as Viktor Frankl’s theory of self-transcendence provide a promising framework for research and intervention on how to achieve resilience, wellbeing, and happiness through overcoming suffering and self-transcendence. The existential positive psychology of suffering complements the positive psychology of happiness, which is championed by Martin Seligman, as two equal halves of the circle of wellbeing and optimal mental health. This Research Topic aims to examine the different approaches to Positive Psychology and their influence on individual wellbeing during the COVID-19 era. One of the exciting development in the positive psychology of wellbeing is the mounting research on the adaptive benefits of negative emotions, such as shame, guilt, and anger, as well as the dialectical process of balancing negative and positive emotions. As an example, based on all the empirical research and Frankl’s self-transcendence model, Wong has developed the existential positive psychology of suffering (PP2.0) as the foundation for flourishing. Here are a few main tenets of PP2.0: (1) Life is suffering and a constant struggle throughout every stage of development, (2) The search for self-transcendence is a primary motive guided by the meaning mindset and mindful mindset. (3) Wellbeing cannot be sustainable without overcoming and transforming suffering. In this Research Topic we welcome diverse approaches discussing the following points: • The dialectic process of overcoming the challenges of every stage of development as necessary for personal growth and self-transcendence; • The role of self-transcendence in resilience, virtue, meaning, and happiness; • The upside of negative emotions; • The new science of resilience based on cultivating the resilient mindset and character; • How to make the best use of suffering to achieve out potentials & mental health.

Download or read book Pupils of the Eye written by Natasha Hoffman and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2019-10-14 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is about the Intuitive Wisdom of the Third Eye, and how over time we have lost our ability to trust it, which in turn has disempowered us. In these pages we learn of the Wisdom Keepers of old, the Astronomer Priests, and the six Archangels who created the sacred paths of energy, those that we call ley lines, and the other grids that encircle our planet. It was on these flows of energy that the Astronomer Priests set up wisdom schools where the wisdom of the Eye was taught to initiates who were known as Pupils of the Eye. And our ancestors marked and used these sacred sites, all over our planet for the temples, churches, standing stones and circles that still attract those many people who respond to a deep soul calling. This book shows too that comprehension of the old myths and legends and the folk tales of all continents can be a vital pathway to trusting in our own intuition and provides an understanding of life on this planet and helps us to reconnect with our place in the Universe.

The words are merely explaining that we as a people need to utilize more love and humbleness towards each other in order to maintain a righteous and divine state of mind. This book captivates peace and happiness with some unhappy gestures and thoughts as well, which is all part of the equilibrium of life. You cannot have a heavenly state of mind without an evil state of mind present to evolve life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Penetrate the nature of mind with this contemporary Korean take on a classic of Zen literature. The message of the Tang-dynasty Zen text in this volume seems simple: to gain enlightenment, stop thinking there is something you need to practice. For the Chinese master Huangbo Xiyun (d. 850), the mind is enlightenment itself if we can only let go of our normal way of thinking. The celebrated translation of this work by John Blofeld, The Zen Teaching of Huang Po, introduced countless readers to Zen over the last sixty years. Huangbo’s work is also a favorite of contemporary Zen (Korean: Seon) Master Subul, who has revolutionized the strict monastic practice of koans and adapted it for lay meditators in Korea and around the world to make swift progress in intense but informal retreats. Devoting themselves to enigmatic questions with their whole bodies, retreatants are frustrated in their search for answers and arrive thereby at a breakthrough experience of their own buddha nature. A Bird in Flight Leaves No Trace is a bracing call for the practitioner to let go and thinking and unlock the buddha within.
