Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Caution! If you read Extra-Dimensional Visitation you could be transported into the feasible realm of dimensional interaction with other beings, basically the same as us, with some interesting but different evolutionary and technical progress. Well some of our most educated scientist profess that there are different dimensions which we cannot now detect but are most assuredly present. They talk of dimensional warp, worm holes, the bending of the fabric of space and other mind boggling theorem. This text may provide tacit answers to some nagging unanswered and mysterious questions about Sasquatch, Bigfoot, flying saucers, or how we have advance so rapidly in the last decade, etc., but also may create many more. Read at your own risk and attempt to hang on to reality, whatever that is. Enjoy!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cosmology deals with the nature of the universe. It can be broadly divided into three great ages. The first began in the 6th century BC with the Pythagorean concept of a spherical Earth that is part of a universe in which the motions of the planets are governed by the harmonious relations of natural laws. The second began in the 16th century with the Copernican revolution. This in turn led into Newton's infinite universe. The third began in the early 20th century with Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity and developed into the expanding universe we know today. Einstein's general theory of relativity extended the new space and time concepts of the special theory of relativity from the domain of electric and magnetic phenomena to all of physics and, particularly, to the theory of gravitation. By building on Einstein's previous work on special relativity, general relativity sought to deal with accelerating frames of reference. This in turn led to the principle of equivalence. By dealing with accelerating frames of reference, general relativity provides astronomers with the best theory to predict the effects of gravity. This book examines in detail new and important work in this field.

Book excerpt: A Fateful Meeting A year and a half ago, I was sitting at a conference listening to Ed Noffsinger speak, and suddenly had the most profound ‘‘Aha’’ moment of my professional career. Here was someone presenting a practical and tested solution to some of the most challenging problems currently plaguing the US healthcare system, problems such as poor access to primary and specialty care; the uncontainable and rising costs of healthcare; our nation’s relatively poor quality outcomes; and finally, the sense of frustration, disempowerment, loneliness, and disenfranchisement that patients and their families too often experience. Dr. Noffsinger’s solution seemed deceptively simple—shared medical appointments (SMAs) that afford the highest quality healthcare to be delivered in the highest quality care experience—a group setting. Experience collected over a decade and involving more than 100,000 patient visits throughout the United States, Canada, and parts of Europe has demonstrated that SMAs, when used in primary care as well as in the medical and surgical subspecialties, lead to increased access to care, enhanced quality of care, and improved patient satisfaction. For physicians, the efficiency gains and team support from their participation in SMAs translate into much needed relief and improved career satisfaction.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: RFF's Roger Sedjo and his colleagues discuss initiatives designed to promote and enhance sustainable forestry in temperate countries. While concerns about tropical deforestation are considerable, temperate forests account for the vast majority of the world's roundwood production and most global trade in wood and paper. Improving forest sustainability in such regions is imperative, economically and environmentally. This book illustrates how far nations have progressed, and how far they still need to go, in that effort. The authors describe how temperate nations address forest sustainability, discussing recent developments affecting forestry and trade. Their compilation of international data on forest practices and regulation provides a useful comparative perspective. They analyze the effect of institutional changes (e.g., new laws) on land management. The volume assesses how national forestry industries are adapting to new laws and policies in the face of new realities in production and markets, particularly in the context of international trade and global competition. Country profiles provide details on sustainability policy and performance in eight timber-exporting or major wood-using temperate nations: the United States, Canada, Finland, Sweden, Germany, France, New Zealand, and Chile. The authors also assess how each nation would be affected by the application of various criteria for sustainability.
