This book was released on 1975 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The technique for predicting the airloads of a store carried on a multiple ejector rack (MER) is presented in this section. The approach consists of inserting the MER/store configuration into the flow-field of the base wing (45 sweep) as outlined in Subsection 2.3 to obtain an initial prediction for the side force, yawing moment, normal force, and pitching moment components for the two rack centerline stations (MER stations 1, 2). The MER shoulder stores are treated as increments to be added to the initial predictions made for MER stations 1 and 2 for these four components. The rolling moment and axial force components are predicted in a manner similar to that used for the single carriage predictions.

Download or read book Development of a Computer Program for Store Airloads Prediction Technique written by A. R. Rudnicki (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report and user's guide presents a computerized version of the wing-mounted single store airloads prediction methodology found in External Store Airloads Prediction Technique (Reference 1). The prediction technique reported in Reference 1 is somewhat time-consuming and tedious to use in its present form due to the multitude of manual computations required to complete a full six-component airloads solution. The computer routine developed during the current program and reported herein will eliminate most of the engineering effort required to evaluate captive store aerodynamic loads not only for current production aircraft-store configurations but also for new aircraft-weapons designs without resorting to expensive wind tunnel or flight tests. The technique should prove especially valuable for evaluation of new aircraft-weapons design in the preliminary design stages because of the rapid response now available using the computer program for chord-wise, spanwise, and vertical variations in store location. Therefore, it permits trade studies to be conducted to minimize installed loads, for example, or to determine a location where the captive loads promote favorable separation.
Book Synopsis Method to Predict External Store Carriage Characteristics at Transonic Speeds by : Bruce S. Rosen
Download or read book Method to Predict External Store Carriage Characteristics at Transonic Speeds written by Bruce S. Rosen and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Development of a computational method for prediction of external store carriage characteristics at transonic speeds is described. The geometric flexibility required for treatment of pylon-mounted stores is achieved by computing finite difference solutions on a five-level embedded grid arrangement. A completely automated grid generation procedure facilitates applications. Store modeling capability consists of bodies of revolution with multiple fore and aft fins. A body-conforming grid improves the accuracy of the computed store body flow field. A nonlinear relaxation scheme developed specifically for modified transonic small disturbance flow equations enhances the method's numerical stability and accuracy. As a result, treatment of lower aspect ratio, more highly swept and tapered wings is possible. A limited supersonic freestream capability is also provided. Pressure, load distribution, and force/moment correlations show good agreement with experimental data for several test cases. A detailed computer program description for the Transonic Store Carriage Loads Prediction (TSCLP) Code is included.

Book Synopsis Use of the Flow Angularity Technique for Predicting Store Separation Trajectories by : Stephen C. Korn
Download or read book Use of the Flow Angularity Technique for Predicting Store Separation Trajectories written by Stephen C. Korn and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method is being developed for solving the store separation trajectory problem by flow angularity techniques. This approach uses experimentally measured interference flow field data coupled with store free stream aerodynamic coefficients. Presently, the flow field about the inboard triple ejector rack loaded with M-117 bombs at Mach 0.85 on the F-4 aircraft is being used to predict the trajectory of other stores launched from the inboard triple ejector rack at subsonic and transonic Mach numbers. Sample comparisons of trajectories produced by the captive trajectory system are presented. This technique allows calculation of the trajectory until the store impacts on the ground. Sample miss distances caused by the interference flow field calculated using the flow angularity technique are presented for the M-117 bomb. (Author).

Book Synopsis Engineering the Space Age - a Rocket Scientist Remembers by : Robert Brulle
Download or read book Engineering the Space Age - a Rocket Scientist Remembers written by Robert Brulle and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rarely is a reader exposed to such an extraordinary, multifaceted presentation of aerospace technology as Bob Brulle narrates in this book. After returning from duty as a combat fighter pilot in World War II, this Belgian immigrant developed a multitalented and innovative aerospace career path that addressed many of the aerospace professions. Along the way he forged a career in the aviation and space field that resulted in his participating in several of the most momentous aerospace achievements of the past century. He also expanded his education through hard work to a level at which he was qualified to teach graduate-level aerospace engineering courses. It is interesting to follow how the analysis and design techniques of aerospace vehicles progressed over the years, which incidentally reveals the large role that the computer played in making that possible. The story on the early Cape Canaveral operations was amusing and showed that enterprising innovations played a large role in a successful undertaking. Some of the projects described were a surprise, as I had never heard of them, like reading how a pencil-shaped missile was built that could fly and maneuver over an intercontinental distance at a high hypersonic velocity. He also described how American engineers and scientists fought the Cold War battle for technological supremacy on their desks and in their laboratories. The initiatives by which this enterprising engineer develops his technical approach to a project are very informative and offer the reader an insight into the workings of successful operations. He achieves an interesting behind-the-scenes look at how aerospace history is made by weaving in the historical significance of these projects as they are developed. As a former aeronautical engineer at the rapidly growing Mc- Donnell Aircraft Corporation, Bob gives us an interesting exposure to the importance of top management's relationship with the workforce in a successful company. "Mr. Mac" made it a point to make all his employees team members by frequent communication and friendly association.

Book Synopsis Missile Flight Simulation by : Jeffrey Strickland
Download or read book Missile Flight Simulation written by Jeffrey Strickland and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A missile flight simulation is a computational tool that calculates the flight of a missile from launch until it engages the target. The simulation is based on mathematical models of the missile, target and environment. This book provides instruction for the preparation of these mathematical models to simulate the flight of a surface-to-air missile. The 2nd Edition of Missile Flight Simulation provides updated simulation processes using MATLAB(R) and Simulink(TM), while improving and clarifying previous content. The book may be used as a reference or as a textbook, although it is devoid of exercises. However, the reader is encouraged to perform the simulation of Charter 12 using MATLAB(R) and Simulink(TM), or a programming language such as FORTRAN (see Chapter 10). The book is not intended to be a missile flight engineering reference and does not contain every aspect of missile flight. It provides the appropriate content for simulating missile flight from launch to terminus only.
