Download or read book Exposure written by Kathryn Banks and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2004 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The notion of «exposure» underlies much modern thinking about identity, representation, ethics, desire and sexuality. This provocative notion is explored in a collection of essays selected from, and inspired by, the proceedings of a conference held in the Department of French at the University of Cambridge in 2002. The authors engage with exposure as both object and mode of representation in a range of cultural media: literature, critical theory, visual art and film. They analyse a variety of works from the medieval, early-modern, and modern periods, examining not only canonical texts such as Montaigne's Essais but also lesser-studied works such as the psychoanalytic theory of Didier Anzieu, the photomontage self-portraits of Claude Cahun, and the novel La Nouvelle Pornographie by Marie Nimier. This volume thus both illustrates and, more importantly, interrogates the richness of the term «exposure», in a way that is stimulating for students and researchers alike.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is the world falling apart or is it falling into place? Today’s rapidly changing civilization consists of conspiracy theories, secret societies, a projected new world order, the COVID 19 pandemic, the Great Reset, threats of mandatory vaccinations, and the mark of the beast. Is it possible that we are about to enter the Great Tribulation period prophesied in the Bible? Is humanity about to enter the storm above all storms? In a thought-provoking and challenging narrative, Clinton Bezan shares a comprehensive, strategic perspective to address the existential questions so many of us face in a post-modern civilization. Join Clinton as he journeys down the rabbit hole, and exposes the covert nature of the hidden power structures that have secretly pulled the strings of governments and manipulated world events to align with their cupidity and plutocratic agenda, and then subsequently correlates these insights with biblical prophecy in a revealing and profound exposure of the truth. Within his presentation, Clinton also guides others to realize the genuine need for God to step in and stop the insanity before civilization destroys itself and Earth. Revelation of Truth is a Christian narrative that compares current global events with biblical insight to provoke an understanding of the existential meaning and purpose of our individual roles in expediting Christ’s return.

Book excerpt: The Mystical Keys to the Book of Revelation is about the author's miraculous transformation that was responsible for aligning her soul with the Spirit of the living God. As her journey progressed, God and his angels taught Laura the secrets to the Book of Revelation. They revealed that this sacred Scripture is not a book of doom and gloom, but simply describes in symbolic language the stages of metamorphosis that will occur on the planet as the souls of humanity are aligned with the divine spirit. Laura's own metamorphosis led her into the arms of true love as she and her soul mate were united. She reveals how the forces of the Holy Trinity become active in two souls as they become bonded by Divine Love. Book Synopsis Reading Revelation Responsibly by : Michael J. Gorman
Download or read book Reading Revelation Responsibly written by Michael J. Gorman and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reading Revelation Responsibly is for those who are confused by, afraid of, and/or preoccupied with the book of Revelation. In rescuing the Apocalypse from those who either completely misinterpret it or completely ignore it, Michael Gorman has given us both a guide to reading Revelation in a responsible way and a theological engagement with the text itself. He takes interpreting the book as a serious and sacred responsibility, believing how one reads, teaches, and preaches Revelation can have a powerful impact on one's own--and other people's--well-being. Gorman pays careful attention to the book's original historical and literary contexts, its connections to the rest of Scripture, its relationship to Christian doctrine and practice, and its potential to help or harm people in their life of faith. Rather than a script for the end times, Gorman demonstrates how Revelation is a script for Christian worship, witness, and mission that runs counter to culturally embedded civil religion.

Book Synopsis The Widening Scope of Shame by : Melvin R. Lansky
Download or read book The Widening Scope of Shame written by Melvin R. Lansky and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-02-04 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Widening Scope of Shame is the first collection of papers on shame to appear in a decade and contains contributions from most of the major authors currently writing on this topic. It is not a sourcebook, but a comprehensive introduction to clinical and theoretical perspectives on shame that is intended to be read cover to cover. The panoramic scope of this multidisciplinary volume is evidenced by a variety of clinically and developmentally grounded chapters; by chapters explicating the theories of Silvan Tomkins and Helen Block Lewis; and by chapters examining shame from the viewpoints of philosophy, social theory, and the study of family systems. A final section of brief chapters illuminates shame in relation to specific clinical problems and experiential contexts, including envy, attention deficit disorder, infertility, masochism, the medical setting, and religious experience. This collection will be of special interest to psychoanalytically oriented readers. It begins with a chapter charting the evolution of Freud's thinking on shame, followed by chapters providing contemporary perspectives on the role of shame in development, and the status of shame within the theory of narcissism. Of further psychoanalytic interest are two reprinted classics by Sidney Levin on shame and marital dysfunction. In both depth of clinical coverage and breadth of perspectives, The Widening Scope of Shame is unique in the shame literature. Readable, well organized, and completely up to date, it becomes essential reading for all students of this intriguing and unsettling emotion and of human development more generally.

Book Synopsis Schelling's Practice of the Wild by : Jason M. Wirth

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reconsiders the contemporary relevance of Schellings radical philosophical and religious ecology. The last two decades have seen a renaissance and reappraisal of Schellings remarkable body of philosophical work, moving beyond explications and historical study to begin thinking with and through Schelling, exploring and developing the fundamental issues at stake in his thought and their contemporary relevance. In this book, Jason M. Wirth seeks to engage Schellings work concerning the philosophical problem of the relationship of time and the imagination, calling this relationship Schellings practice of the wild. Focusing on the questions of nature, art, philosophical religion (mythology and revelation), and history, Wirth argues that at the heart of Schellings work is a radical philosophical and religious ecology. He develops this theme not only through close readings of Schellings texts, but also by bringing them into dialogue with thinkers as diverse as Deleuze, Nietzsche, Melville, Musil, and many others. The book also features the first appearance in English translation of Schellings famous letter to Eschenmayer regarding the Freedom essay.
