Book Synopsis Exploring Creation with Physical Science by : Jay L. Wile
Download or read book Exploring Creation with Physical Science written by Jay L. Wile and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This should be the last course a student takes before high school biology. Typically, we recommend that the student take this course during the same year that he or she is taking prealgebra. Exploring Creation With Physical Science provides a detailed introduction to the physical environment and some of the basic laws that make it work. The fairly broad scope of the book provides the student with a good understanding of the earth's atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. It also covers details on weather, motion, Newton's Laws, gravity, the solar system, atomic structure, radiation, nuclear reactions, stars, and galaxies. The second edition of our physical science course has several features that enhance the value of the course: * There is more color in this edition as compared to the previous edition, and many of the drawings that are in the first edition have been replaced by higher-quality drawings. * There are more experiments in this edition than there were in the previous one. In addition, some of the experiments that were in the previous edition have been changed to make them even more interesting and easy to perform. * Advanced students who have the time and the ability for additional learning are directed to online resources that give them access to advanced subject matter. * To aid the student in reviewing the course as a whole, there is an appendix that contains questions which cover the entire course. The solutions and tests manual has the answers to those questions. Because of the differences between the first and second editions, students in a group setting cannot use both. They must all have the same edition. A further description of the changes made to our second edition courses can be found in the sidebar on page 32.

Book Synopsis Argument-Driven Inquiry in Physical Science by : Jonathon Grooms
Download or read book Argument-Driven Inquiry in Physical Science written by Jonathon Grooms and published by NSTA Press. This book was released on 2016-10-01 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you interested in using argument-driven inquiry for middle school lab instruction but just aren’t sure how to do it? Argument-Driven Inquiry in Physical Science will provide you with both the information and instructional materials you need to start using this method right away. The book is a one-stop source of expertise, advice, and investigations to help physical science students work the way scientists do. The book is divided into two basic parts: 1. An introduction to the stages of argument-driven inquiry—from question identification, data analysis, and argument development and evaluation to double-blind peer review and report revision. 2. A well-organized series of 22 field-tested labs designed to be much more authentic for instruction than traditional laboratory activities. The labs cover four core ideas in physical science: matter, motion and forces, energy, and waves. Students dig into important content and learn scientific practices as they figure out everything from how thermal energy works to what could make an action figure jump higher. The authors are veteran teachers who know your time constraints, so they designed the book with easy-to-use reproducible student pages, teacher notes, and checkout questions. The labs also support today’s standards and will help your students learn the core ideas, crosscutting concepts, and scientific practices found in the Next Generation Science Standards. In addition, the authors offer ways for students to develop the disciplinary skills outlined in the Common Core State Standards. Many of today’s middle school teachers—like you—want to find new ways to engage students in scientific practices and help students learn more from lab activities. Argument-Driven Inquiry in Physical Science does all of this while also giving students the chance to practice reading, writing, speaking, and using math in the context of science.

Download or read book Lab Manual for Physical Science written by Bill Tillery and published by McGraw-Hill Education. This book was released on 2011-01-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The laboratory manual, written and classroom-tested by the author, presents a selection of laboratory exercises specifically written for the interests and abilities of non-science majors. There are laboratory exercises that require measurement, data analysis, and thinking in a more structured learning environment, while alternative exercises that are open-ended “Invitations to Inquiry” are provided for instructors who would like a less structured approach. When the laboratory manual is used with Physical Science, students will have an opportunity to master basic scientific principles and concepts, learn new problem-solving and thinking skills, and understand the nature of scientific inquiry from the perspective of hands-on experiences. The instructor’s edition of the laboratory manual can be found on the Physical Science companion website.
