Book excerpt: Addressing the religious leaders of His day, Jesus said, ""For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in."" He also taught us to petition our Father, ."."..Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven...For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever."" Unwilling to follow the poor example of those scribes and Pharisees, we choose to explore heavenly places through the leadership of the Holy Spirit; taking back what has been given away to the enemy and securing victory in the heavens. This third book in the Exploring Heavenly Places series examines the nature of these realms as a dimensional system, focusing mostly on the grid, doors and gates. The evidence presented is clear that when His will is done there, our physical existence here is the beneficiary of positive change.

Book excerpt: The Exploring Heavenly Places series thus far has spoken of experiences occurring through discernment in dimensions existing beyond our normal everyday perception in seemingly far-away places. However, both the dimensional heavenly places and the Power of God are also very close at hand. We frequently consider the Lord's Prayer, but how often do we stop and consider the magnitude of the fact that His kingdom is already here and dwells within us? It's so easy to simply assume that "on earth as it is in heaven" is future tense; for we know it will become evident in the millennial kingdom when Jesus literally returns to rule and reign from His throne in Jerusalem. We must change our focus so that we do not miss the current reality of The Power of God, on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Taking over twenty-six years to develop, it documents the spiritual realities of the heavenly places as mentioned in the Bible. In a stunning departure from traditional and commonly accepted theological views, the authors acknowledge what the Word of God so clearly articulates; just as the physical world contains a wide variety of beings and other created things, so does the spiritual world. Within the pages of this book you will find over 100 entries that clearly identify multiple aspects of the Holy Trinity, as well as diverse and unique spiritual beings, entities and places. This resource will help you learn how to discern each entry by observing how others are able to sense each spiritual reality with the five physical senses; it is a tool that will train you to know what the Father is doing in the heavenly places so you can model Jesus' life on earth.

Book excerpt: As we explore the heavenly places, the Holy Spirit is always our guide or, in a sense, our spiritual travel agent. In this volume, our exotic destinations are the width, length, depth and height of which the Apostle Paul wrote in the book of Ephesians. The enemy is adept at producing corrupt imitations of God's perfect creation and these realms are no exception, but the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord always outweighs the worst destruction of evil. Therefore, we examine both the righteous and unrighteous versions, sharing revelatory insights from the Lord regarding how to escape from the ungodly places and dwell in the righteous width, length, depth and height where we will enjoy the abundant blessings of God.

We often read such statements as, the voice of the Lord is powerful; He rules by His power forever; by His power He brought in the south wind; Who knows the power of Your anger; Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; All your works shall praise You, O Lord...And talk of Your power. All of His works shall praise him - wow!!! That's big.God's handiwork is evident everywhere we look, and the Bible is full of golden nuggets of truth that we may not have recognized because our everyday focus is usually on what we see right in front of us. Book excerpt: Travelogues illuminate for others the places and experiences encountered by travelers, in this case the authors and others associated with the ministry of Aslan's Place. The destinations illustrated here do not represent an exhaustive account of each one; nor do they deal with everywhere the Lord has taken us, for there remains a multitude of yet-to-be-revealed heavenly realms and kingdoms and assorted dimensional spaces. To put it in perspective, consider the fact that one lifetime is insufficient for even the most seasoned international traveler to explore every city in every country of the world, let alone all of their attractions and outlying areas. Then, magnify the farthest reaches from those earthly locales by millions, or even billions, and a tiny glimmer of the immensity of God's spiritual creation may be seen. The vast majority of our excursions into undiscovered territories will occur throughout eternity, so this travelogue is simply an appetizer, meant to make the reader hungry for more.

Book excerpt: A revelatory, urgent narrative with national implications, exploring the decline of California’s largest utility company that led to countless wildfires — including the one that destroyed the town of Paradise – and the human cost of infrastructure failure Pacific Gas and Electric was a legacy company built by innovators and visionaries, establishing California as a desirable home and economic powerhouse. In California Burning, Wall Street Journal reporter and Pulitzer finalist Katherine Blunt examines how that legacy fell apart—unraveling a long history of deadly failures in which Pacific Gas and Electric endangered millions of Northern Californians, through criminal neglect of its infrastructure. As PG&E prioritized profits and politics, power lines went unchecked—until a rusted hook purchased for 56 cents in 1921 split in two, sparking the deadliest wildfire in California history. Beginning with PG&E’s public reckoning after the Paradise fire, Blunt chronicles the evolution of PG&E’s shareholder base, from innovators who built some of California's first long-distance power lines to aggressive investors keen on reaping dividends. Following key players through pivotal decisions and legal battles, California Burning reveals the forces that shaped the plight of PG&E: deregulation and market-gaming led by Enron Corp., an unyielding push for renewable energy, and a swift increase in wildfire risk throughout the West, while regulators and lawmakers pushed their own agendas. California Burning is a deeply reported, character-driven narrative, the story of a disaster expanding into a much bigger exploration of accountability. It’s an American tragedy that serves as a cautionary tale for utilities across the nation—especially as climate change makes aging infrastructure more vulnerable, with potentially fatal consequences.

Book excerpt: In Mandarin Gate, Edgar Award winner Eliot Pattison brings Shan back in a thriller that navigates the explosive political and religious landscape of Tibet. In an earlier time, Shan Tao Yun was an Inspector stationed in Beijing. But he lost his position, his family and his freedom when he ran afoul of a powerful figure high in the Chinese government. Released unofficially from the work camp to which he'd been sentenced, Shan has been living in remote mountains of Tibet with a group of outlawed Buddhist monks. Without status, official identity, or the freedom to return to his former home in Beijing, Shan has just begun to settle into his menial job as an inspector of irrigation and sewer ditches in a remote Tibetan township when he encounters a wrenching crime scene. Strewn across the grounds of an old Buddhist temple undergoing restoration are the bodies of two unidentified men and a Tibetan nun. Shan quickly realizes that the murders pose a riddle the Chinese police might in fact be trying to cover up. When he discovers that a nearby village has been converted into a new internment camp for Tibetan dissidents arrested in Beijing's latest pacification campaign, Shan recognizes the dangerous landscape he has entered. To find justice for the victims and to protect an American woman who witnessed the murders, Shan must navigate through the treacherous worlds of the internment camp, the local criminal gang, and the government's rabid pacification teams, while coping with his growing doubts about his own identity and role in Tibet.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a crucial shift within posthumanistic media studies, Bernhard Siegert dissolves the concept of media into a network of operations that reproduce, displace, process, and reflect the distinctions fundamental for a given culture. Cultural Techniques aims to forget our traditional understanding of media so as to redefine the concept through something more fundamental than the empiricist study of a medium’s individual or collective uses or of its cultural semantics or aesthetics. Rather, Siegert seeks to relocate media and culture on a level where the distinctions between object and performance, matter and form, human and nonhuman, sign and channel, the symbolic and the real are still in the process of becoming. The result is to turn ontology into a domain of all that is meant in German by the word Kultur. Cultural techniques comprise not only self-referential symbolic practices like reading, writing, counting, or image-making. The analysis of artifacts as cultural techniques emphasizes their ontological status as “in-betweens,” shifting from firstorder to second-order techniques, from the technical to the artistic, from object to sign, from the natural to the cultural, from the operational to the representational. Cultural Techniques ranges from seafaring, drafting, and eating to the production of the sign-signaldistinction in old and new media, to the reproduction of anthropological difference, to the study of trompe-l’oeils, grids, registers, and doors. Throughout, Siegert addresses fundamental questions of how ontological distinctions can be replaced by chains of operations that process those alleged ontological distinctions within the ontic. Grounding posthumanist theory both historically and technically, this book opens up a crucial dialogue between new German media theory and American postcybernetic discourses.
