Download or read book Photonic Signal Processing, Second Edition written by Le Nguyen Binh and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-01-15 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Second Edition of "Photonic Signal Processing" updates most recent R&D on processing techniques of signals in photonic domain from the fundamentals given in its first edition. Several modern techniques in Photonic Signal Processing (PSP) are described: Graphical signal flow technique to simplify the analysis of the photonic transfer functions, plus its insights into the physical phenomena of such processors. The resonance and interference of optical fields are presented by the poles and zeros of the optical circuits, respectively. Detailed design procedures for fixed and tunable optical filters. These filters, "brick-wall-like", now play a highly important role in ultra-broadband (100GBaud) to spectral shaping of sinc temporal response so as to generate truly Nyquist sampler of the received eye diagrams 3-D PSP allows multi-dimensional processing for highly complex optical signals Photonic differentiators and integrators for dark soliton generations. Optical dispersion compensating processors for ultra-long haul optical transmission systems. Some optical devices essentials for PSP. Many detailed PSP techniques are given in the chapters of this Second Edition.
Book Synopsis Design Procedure for Tapped Delay Line Compression Filters by : Stanford University. Stanford Electronics Laboratories
Download or read book Design Procedure for Tapped Delay Line Compression Filters written by Stanford University. Stanford Electronics Laboratories and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A compression-filter design is described which utilizes 76 broadband taps spaced nonuniformly along a delay line. Also described is a computer program, written in FORTRAN II language, which can be used to calculate the individual tap positions and weightings for a maximum-response peak-to-sidelobe ratio. Computations made using the computer program resulted in a compression filter matched to an excitation which changed frequency linearly with time over an octave bandwidth and which had a time-bandwidth product of 50. The response of this filter was a compressed pulse with a peak-to-sidelobe ratio of over 100. In addition, the filter proved to be less sensitive to scan-rate errors than a continuously dispersive filter with the same compression characteristics. Experimental results were obtained on a 76-tap compression filter designed to operate in the 1- to 2-Gc frequency range. The performance of this filter tends to confirm the validity of the technique and provides an encouraging basis for future work. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Best of the Best: Fifty Years of Communications and Networking Research consists of a group of 50 papers selected as the best published by ComSoc in its various journals in the Society’s 50-year history. The editors of the collection have written an essay to introduce the papers and discuss the historical significance of the collection and how they were selected for the collection. The book divides the papers into two major categories (Communications and Networking) and groups them by decade within these major subdivisions.
