Book Synopsis Fluid Mechanics of Flow Metering by : Wolfgang Merzkirch
Download or read book Fluid Mechanics of Flow Metering written by Wolfgang Merzkirch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-05 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flow meters measure the volumetric flow rate in a pipeline. Most meters are based on deriving a signal from the fluid flow and calibrating the signal against the volumetric flow rate. The calibration is done in fully-developed flow, and the same state of flow must exist at the meter’s position when it is in practical use. Because the field of flow metering has been neglected by fluid mechanicists for a long time, this book addresses two major fluid mechanical problems in flow metering: the analysis of signal generation in turbulent pipe flow, which explains the function of the meter beyond a simple calibration, and the possible use of a meter in non-developed flows. These problems are investigated with reference to, and examples from, a variety of meters, e.g. ultrasound cross-correlation meters, vortex meters, and turbine meters. Studying these problems requires consideration of specific phenomena in turbulent non-developed pipe flow, as caused by installations, and finding special solutions with signal processing, both of which are included in the book.
Book Synopsis Introduction to Fluid Mechanics by : Robert W. Fox
Download or read book Introduction to Fluid Mechanics written by Robert W. Fox and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the bestselling books in the field, Introduction to Fluid Mechanics continues to provide readers with a balanced and comprehensive approach to mastering critical concepts. The new seventh edition once again incorporates a proven problem-solving methodology that will help them develop an orderly plan to finding the right solution. It starts with basic equations, then clearly states assumptions, and finally, relates results to expected physical behavior. Many of the steps involved in analysis are simplified by using Excel.

Book Synopsis Experimental Methods and Instrumentation for Chemical Engineers by : Gregory S. Patience
Download or read book Experimental Methods and Instrumentation for Chemical Engineers written by Gregory S. Patience and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2013-04-05 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental Methods and Instrumentation for Chemical Engineers is a practical guide for research engineers and students, process engineers and, consultants, and others in the chemical engineering field. This unique book thoroughly describes experimental measurements and instrumentation in the contexts of pressure, temperature, fluid metering, chromatography, and more. Chapters on physico-chemical analysis and analysis of solids and powders are included as well. Throughout the book, the author examines all aspects of engineering practice and research. The principles of unit operations, transport phenomena, and plant design form the basis of this discipline. Experimental Methods and Instrumentation for Chemical Engineers integrates these concepts with statistics and uncertainty analysis to define factors that are absolutely necessary to measure and control, how precisely, and how often. Experimental Methods and Instrumentation for Chemical Engineers is divided into several themes, including the measurement of pressure, temperature flow rate, physico-chemical properties, gas and liquid concentrations and solids properties. Throughout the book, the concept of uncertainty is discussed in context, and the last chapter is dedicated to designing and experimental plan. The theory around the measurement principles is illustrated with examples. These examples include notions related to plant design as well as cost and safety. Contains extensive diagrams, photos, and other illustrations as well as manufacturers' equipment and descriptions with up-to-date, detailed drawings and photos Includes exercises at the end of each chapter, helping the reader to understand the problem by solving practical examples Covers research and plant application, including emerging technologies little discussed in other sources
Book Synopsis Fluid Flow Measurement by : E. L. Upp
Download or read book Fluid Flow Measurement written by E. L. Upp and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 1993 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book brings the author's many years of field experience to bear in a thorough review of practical fluid flow measurement methods and applications. The book avoids theory and concentrates instead on helping the reader review all the relevant data for the meter in use, condition of the fluid, details of the entire metering system, installation and operation, and the timing and quality of maintenance. Those with limited experience in flow measurement will find the review of concepts extremely useful. The experienced reader will find invaluable guidelines and often overlooked factors that apply in the practice of flow measurement but which are not found in the many theoretical reviews and industrial standards. Fluid Flow Measurement begins with a review of basic laws and principles. This is followed by an overview of the physical characteristics and behavior of gases and liquids. "Flow" itself is then examined and various "real-world" limitations to metering are discussed. The second half of the book examines applications of specific meters, readout and related devices, and proving systems.
