Book Synopsis Subsidence Analysis and Visualization by : Eun Young Lee
Download or read book Subsidence Analysis and Visualization written by Eun Young Lee and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-15 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive introduction to techniques for quantitative subsidence analysis and visualization with example applications. Subsidence analysis is an essential step to understand basin evolution through geologic time and space in the study of sediments and sedimentary basins. Quantifying techniques have been developed and applied in many basin research projects to evaluate total, tectonic and thermal subsidence. They are also a pre-requisite for basin evolution modelling. Recent studies have applied visualization techniques to understand regional subsidence contexts and trends, which confirmed that three-dimensional visualization of the basin subsidence is highly helpful to gain insight into basin evolution. In this book, we show how geoscience and computer science can be effectively combined in advanced basin analysis, especially in terms of basin subsidence. Each type of subsidence analysis is introduced with example applications. In particular we present a study of the Vienna basin using BasinVis, a MATLAB-based program for analyzing and visualizing basin subsidence. Given its breadth of coverage, this book will benefit students in undergraduate and postgraduate courses and provide helpful information for research projects and industry applications.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A great deal of information has been gained during the past 20 years about the deep ocean. This book synthesizes new information in marine sedimentology, applying concepts to case studies, and integrating the information in a context of plate tectonics, global circulation, and sedimentary processes. The potential of sediment series as archives of past environments is highlighted.* complete update of synthetic information in marine sedimentology.* association of information on the origin and transport of sediment particles, the evolution of sediment series and their role as archives of past environments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cyclic Development of Sedimentary Basins presents the controversial subject of the cyclic phenomena in the earth's evolutionary history and its reflection in the development of sedimentary basins and its lithic infillings. Galactic rotation of celestial bodies causes cyclicity that is also reflected on a smaller scale in the proper Earth. This book presents the consequences of the earth's cyclic phenomena in the long-term cycles which affect the origin and further evolution of sedimentary basins.* Basin development* Cyclicity* Examples from the world
Book Synopsis Bassins sédimentaires - Les marqueurs de leur histoire thermique by : Cécile Gautheron
Download or read book Bassins sédimentaires - Les marqueurs de leur histoire thermique written by Cécile Gautheron and published by EDP Sciences. This book was released on 2014-06-01T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Principles of Sedimentary Basin Analysis by : Andrew D. Miall
Download or read book Principles of Sedimentary Basin Analysis written by Andrew D. Miall and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1990 with total page 696 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book incorporates developments in chronostratigraphy, sequence stratigraphy and sedimentation and tectonics that have taken place during the last decade. In particular, the wealth of case studies that have appeared since the late 1980s, focusing on sequence architecture and the relationships between sedimentation and tectonics, have required a virtually complete rewriting of Chapters 6 to 9. The global-eustasy model that was popular as a mechanism for sequence generation at the time of writing of the earlier editions of this book has been downplayed in this edition in the face of abundant new evidence pointing to the importance of tectonism as a process that may generate sequences over a wide range of temporal and physical scales. Amongst other additions, this edition contains new sections describing such topics as basin inversion and basement control of sedimentary basin development, and a range of new case studies of the plate tectonics of sedimentary basins.
