Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an emotional system all relationships are capable of becoming conflicted. When this happens people often resort to unhealthy non-beneficial ways of resolving the conflict. The Process of Reconciliation provides insights into the dynamics influencing the breakdown and some steps to become reconciled. Insights are shared based on Scripture, family systems thinking, understanding a values system hierarchy and years of working with conflicted congregations. The result is a resource that provides concrete steps in helping individuals overcome their fears and enter into a conflict resolution process. John Hirsch has been a pastor of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod for 37 years. He served one congregation in Brighton Michigan for 22 years and now as Director of Congregational and Worker Care for the Texas District, LCMS since Jan. 1995. In his latter role he has worked with dozens of conflicted congregations. He has a B.A. in psychology from the University of Texas in Austin, a M.A. in educational psychology from Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti MI, a M.Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, IL, and a D. Min. from Western Theological Seminary in Holland, MI. He also has five quarters in CPE and extensive training in conflict resolution in a variety of resolution models. In The Process of Reconciliation Dr. John Hirsch provides helpful and practical advice for effective and God-pleasing reconciliation. If you need to step out from under the burden of conflict, resentment, or unforgiveness, this book is for you. -Rev. Michael W. Newman, author of Satan's Lies, What Happens When You Die and Revelation: What the Last Book of the Bible Really Means.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Arthur W. Pink (1890-1953) launched his yearly publication, Studies in the Scriptures in 1921. These continued until his death, altogether 33 volumes of 288 pp. each. Most of Pink's books are taken from these yearly books (written monthly in 24 page format). This title is one of the many taken from eight of those monthly magazines. Readers will find thorough consideration of all the facets of this Biblical Doctrine of Reconciliation. Pink covers: Its Arrangement; Its Need, Its Effectuation; Its Meaning; Its Scope; and Its Reception. There are Scriptures galore cited. Undoubtedly the reader will grow rich in knowledge and in the grace of Christ. The pages are full, with probably 400 words to a page, so buyers will get their moneys worth. As an example of what a master workman like Pink does, note that he cites Romans 12:1, 2: [This verse] ''supplies an interpretation of the rites of the Law and of the reasonable part of the O. T. order of things. Thus, he who would make a covenant with God is required to give up himself wholly unto God with a sincere and firm resolution unto a new life of obedience to Him. If there is any reservation the covenant is marred in the making of it: ''Their heart was not right with Him, neither were they steadfast in His covenant'' (Ps. 78:37). Goodwin's Reconciliation by the Blood of Christ is a sermon he preached on Colossians 1:20, in which He describes the seeming impossibility of reconciling totally depraved men to a holy God. Who is sufficient for such a task? He proves that only Christ Jesus had the fitness to fill this role of perfect obedience to the Law, together with an acceptable sacrifice to propitiate the wrath of God toward men.

Reconciliation: God’s Timeless Call to Justice, Healing, and Transformation describes what is essential for engaging in the process of costly reconciliation: taking responsibility, seeking forgiveness, repairing the wrong, healing the soul, and creating new ways of relating. Chapters close with a set of study-guide questions for readers who seek a concise, lay-oriented articulation of the biblical mandate for reconciliation across racial, gender, and class lines. This is the 2019 reprint edition of Reconciliation: Our Greatest Challenge—Our Only Hope.

Faust (1920–2007) of the First Presidency explained the role of prophets and the need for the revelation they receive: “The prophets, seers, and revelators have had and still have the responsibility and privilege of receiving and declaring the word of God for the world. . . . “. . . These are the prophetic oracles who have tuned in over the centuries to the ‘celestial transmitting station,’ with a responsibility to relay the Lord’s word to others. . . . “This Church constantly needs the guidance of its head, the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This was well taught by President George Q. Cannon, [while serving in] the First Presidency: ‘We have the Bible, the Book of Mormon and the Book of Doctrine and Covenants; but all these books, without the living oracles and a constant stream of revelation from the Lord, would not lead any people into the Celestial Kingdom of God’ [Gospel Truth: Discourses and Writings of President George Q. Cannon, 2 vols., sel. Jerreld L. Newquist (1974), 1:323]. . . . “Revelation was required to establish this Church. Revelation has brought it from its humble beginnings to its present course. Revelation has come like flowing, living water. Continuing revelation will lead it forward to the windup scene. But as President [J. Reuben] Clark told us, we do not need more or different prophets. We need more people with ‘a listening ear’ (in Conference Report, Oct. 1948, 82)” (“Continuing Revelation,” Ensign, Aug. 1996, 2, 4, 6–7).
