Book excerpt: So for those of you who believe that sequels are better than the original, you're in luck. Due to the overwhelming demand for more sick and perverse text, we have yet again created a book filled with words, sentences, paragraphs and even some chapter headings. Yep. We rolled it into a nice pretty package and presented it as a completely legitimate novel intended to be placed on the bookshelf between Wuthering Heights and The Great Gatsby. Yes, both those books were sick too, you just need to read it better to know what I'm talking about!Okay, I digress. We wrote this second book because you probably raced through the first one and thought, "damn, I'm still hard." No worries, our sick and twisted minds delivered once again.

Book excerpt: You think your mom was bad, let me tell you, when my mom threatened to send me to school in nothing but my underwear because I hadn't thrown my dirty clothes in the hamper, she followed through! That woman had some resolve! My mother had a very twisted sense of right and wrong. She could swear like a sailor and make grown men blush, but God forbid one of her children mention repeat her choice words. Her method of overcoming the desire to be 'foul mouthed'? SOAP.S stands for the Shit I was not supposed to sayO stands for the Oh my God, this tastes like ShitA stands for the Ass Whooping I'd get if I didn't finish eating my soapP stands for what always happened in my pants after my ass whoopingI have tasted them all. And I've created a chart for those less privileged:Best Flavor: Irish Spring. The nice smell lulls your mind into thinking that the nails scraping across your tongue and grabbing at your gag reflexes, are just like a spring day with green arbors and trickling waterfalls.Worst Taste: Ivory. I don't care if that shit floats instead of sinks like most soaps. Sometimes my shit floats too. It don't mean that it tastes good. Seriously, Ivory soap was made by mom chemists who intended on ensuring they scrubbed every last foul word out of children's mouths. Most Interesting: LAVA Soap. I don't know if it was the little flecks of stone from actual volcanic rock meant to pumice the taste buds from your tongue, or the red and angry color that made you lather foam like those science fair volcano entries. If you ever have a chance to travel back in time and relive your childhood, and if you, like me, were prone to eating soap, but not of your own desire, here is a great technique to get you through it.FOAM! Lather, foam, drool and repeat. Most soaps are made to foam up, you know for the false sense of cleanliness that it offers. If you sputter a lot and really work that soap in your mouth, most of it will find its way past your lips, down your chin and successfully into a sink. Better out than in I always say.So back to this book... Yes, we did write that tripe 5 Words to Overcome Writer's Block and we invented the whole Left Brain/Right Brain reading shit, but honestly, we are humorists and writing the serious side was far too taxing. I am on Xanax (Alprazolam) still trying to overcome the links my brain was making to pull that stuff together into one book. It just was never meant to be. Still, the sequel was begging to be written. And here it is.

Book excerpt: Gertrude Simmons Bonnin (1876-1938), better known by her pen name, Zitkala-Sa, was a Native American writer, editor, musician, teacher and political activist. She was born and raised on the Yankton Sioux Reservation in South Dakota by her mother. Zitkala-Sa lived a traditional lifestyle until the age of eight when she left her reservation to attend Whites Manual Labor Institute, a Quaker mission school in Indiana. She went on to study for a time at Earlham College in Indiana and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. A considerable talent, Bonnin co-composed the first American Indian grand opera, The Sun Dance in 1913. After working as a teacher at Carlisle Indian Industrial School, she began publishing short stories and autobiographical vignettes. Her autobiographical writings were serialized in Atlantic Monthly and, later, published in a collection called American Indian Stories in 1921. Her first book, Old Indian Legends (1901), is a collection of folktales that she gathered during her visits home to the Yankton Reservation. Her other works include Stories of Iktomi and Other Legends of the Dakotas (1901) and Oklahoma s Poor Rich Indians (1924).

Book excerpt: Spencer Quinn's Of Mutts and Men is the latest in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling series that the Los Angeles Times called “nothing short of masterful"... When Chet the dog, “the most lovable narrator in all of crime fiction” (Boston Globe), and his partner, PI Bernie Little of the desert-based Little Detective Agency, arrive to a meeting with hydrologist Wendell Nero, they are in for a shocking sight—Wendell has come to a violent and mysterious end. What did the hydrologist want to see them about? Is his death a random robbery, or something more? Chet and Bernie, working for nothing more than an eight-pack of Slim Jims, are on the case. Bernie might be the only one who thinks the police have arrested the wrong man, including the perp’s own defense attorney. Chet and Bernie begin to look into Wendell’s work, a search that leads to a struggling winemaker who has received an offer he can’t refuse. Meanwhile, Chet is smelling water where there is no water, and soon Chet and Bernie are in danger like never before. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an adult book with adult humor and some pictures not suitable for children. Now, if you are an adult male and are often referred to as a child, then this book is perfectly fine for you.Note: This book has lots of swear words, seriously! I mean who writes words like Shit and Dick on the front cover of a book and expects it won't be brown bagged in most book stores? We appreciate the gate busters who wrote books like S&*! My Dad Says and Go the F&*# to Sleep and allowed the clean and decent human beings the chance to get real, we all fucking swear. Some more than others, and some with a lot more vigor and conviction.Note, this is not a work of porn, but you'd be hard pressed to classify it differently. We, the writers, are humorists and our genre of choice is adult story telling. We don't live these experiences, at least not the way you think.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “You will devour these beautifully written—and very important—tales of honesty, pain, and resilience” (Elizabeth Gilbert, New York Times bestselling author of Eat Pray Love and City of Girls) from fifteen brilliant writers who explore how what we don’t talk about with our mothers affects us, for better or for worse. As an undergraduate, Michele Filgate started writing an essay about being abused by her stepfather. It took her more than a decade to realize that she was actually trying to write about how this affected her relationship with her mother. When it was finally published, the essay went viral, shared on social media by Anne Lamott, Rebecca Solnit, and many others. This gave Filgate an idea, and the resulting anthology offers a candid look at our relationships with our mothers. Leslie Jamison writes about trying to discover who her seemingly perfect mother was before ever becoming a mom. In Cathi Hanauer’s hilarious piece, she finally gets a chance to have a conversation with her mother that isn’t interrupted by her domineering (but lovable) father. André Aciman writes about what it was like to have a deaf mother. Melissa Febos uses mythology as a lens to look at her close-knit relationship with her psychotherapist mother. And Julianna Baggott talks about having a mom who tells her everything. As Filgate writes, “Our mothers are our first homes, and that’s why we’re always trying to return to them.” There’s relief in acknowledging how what we couldn’t say for so long is a way to heal our relationships with others and, perhaps most important, with ourselves. Contributions by Cathi Hanauer, Melissa Febos, Alexander Chee, Dylan Landis, Bernice L. McFadden, Julianna Baggott, Lynn Steger Strong, Kiese Laymon, Carmen Maria Machado, André Aciman, Sari Botton, Nayomi Munaweera, Brandon Taylor, and Leslie Jamison.
