Le premier objectif est de décrire linguistiquement les formes de la prédication en Langue des Signes Française (LSF) nommées constructions prédicatives (CP), noyaux syntaxiques porteurs du sens des énoncés. La description linguistique de ces CP d'action, d'existence et d'attribution de propriété, est morphosyntaxique, et les traits formels de chaque type sont mis au jour : traits Flottant, Ancré, Dynamique, Orientation et Configuration pour les CP d'action ; éléments manuels (unité lexicale, pointé, classificateur, transfert de taille et de forme) et non-manuels (emplacement dans l'espace de signation, mouvement du buste et du regard, expression faciale) pour les CP d'existence et d'attribution de propriété. Le second objectif est de déterminer les étapes d'acquisition des CP, grâce à l'élaboration d'un outil d'évaluation. La passation du test vise à évaluer les compétences linguistiques et les points faibles de l'enfant en vue de leur potentielle remédiation. Des items ciblant les CP ont été créés pour élaborer une tâche de réception sur la base d'énoncés en LSF filmés et une tâche de production à partir d'images. Une seconde tâche de production a également été proposée pour évaluer les compétences narratives et les constructions prédicatives en situation de récit. Trente-et-un enfants sourds signants ont participé à notre étude. Les informations recueillies nous renseignent sur les étapes d'acquisition des CA et nous permettent d'évaluer le degré de complexité de certains traits formels tels que la Configuration en réception. La maîtrise linguistique est mise en évidence par l'utilisation d'unités linguistiques telles que les classificateurs, les pointés.

Il permet d'observer comment ces derniers structurent leur récit et avec quels outils linguistiques. Parmi ces outils, les procédés référentiels, notamment anaphoriques, sont essentiels pour permettre à l'interlocuteur d'identifier clairement de qui on parle au cours de la narration. En clinique, il est intéressant de les analyser et de les intégrer à l'évaluation, d'autant plus qu'ils peuvent mettre en évidence des difficultés ou spécificités au niveau linguistique en français, mais également en langue des signes. Or, actuellement il n'existe pas d'outil accessible pour l'évaluation du récit en Langue des Signes Française (LSF). Ce mémoire s'inscrit dans le projet de recherche CotaSigne avec pour objectif de participer au développement d'un outil d'évaluation des compétences narratives en LSF. Il s'agit d'une première étape d'analyse permettant d'identifier et de comprendre quels sont les procédés référentiels, notamment anaphoriques utilisés à travers une tâche de production de récit destinée à l'évaluation. Dans cette optique, nous avons élaboré une grille d'analyse des procédés anaphoriques en LSF. De plus, suite aux visionnages de vidéos, nous avons réalisé une première étude quant aux procédés anaphoriques utilisés par les enfants comparativement aux adultes. Nous avons alors observé que chez les enfants les procédés anaphoriques étaient employés dès le plus jeune âge. Toutefois, leur utilisation appropriée sur les plans pragmatique et linguistique semble se mettre en place progressivement, témoignant de leur relative complexité. Face à ces constats nous avons mis en évidence quelques points à retenir pour la clinique et nous avons proposé des grilles d'évaluation qui pourraient être incluses dans la tâche de récit actuelle développée dans le cadre du projet CotaSigne.

Book excerpt: En partant du cadre du résumé conceptuel des modèles IDRC (Interprétation-Décisions-Ressources-Contraintes) et du modèle d'Efforts de l'interprétation simultanée de Daniel Gile entre langues vocales, nous tenterons d'analyser le processus de l'interprétation en langue des signes et étudierons la charge cognitive inhérente au passage d'une langue vocale (canal audio-vocal), à une langue signée (canal visuo-gestuel). Nous analyserons en premier lieu l'ensemble des contraintes concourant à l'exercice de l'interprétation en langue des signes pouvant se distinguer de celles généralement observées en interprétation entre langues vocales (nous incluons les langues vocales syntaxiquement très éloignées) telles que les contraintes socio-économiques, les contraintes linguistique et enfin les contraintes d'epace. Nous procéderons ensuite à une analyse cognitive du processus de l'interprétation en nous référant au modèle d'Efforts de l'interprétation simultanée de Gile (Effort d'Ecoute et d'Analyse, Effort de Mémorisation à court terme, Effort de Production, Effort de coordination de ces trois activités simultanées), et nous chercherons à envisager sa transposition aux langues des signes. Pour mieux comprendre les mécanismes constitutifs du processus, nous observerons particulièrement le concept de scénarisation (Séro-Guillaume, 2008) pour une première analyse de la charge cognitive de l'interprète en action. Cette capacité de représentation synthétique visuelle est-elle plus ou moins grande si on prend en compte le degré d'abstraction du discours, la technicité de l'énoncé, le manque de correspondances lexicales, le contexte de l'interprétation (pédagogique, conférence, etc.), la préparation? Notre analyse du processus se base sur un corpus constitué de plusieurs études empiriques d'interprétation vers la langue des signes : une étude semi-expérimentale, une étude de cas naturaliste et une étude expérimentale, ainsi que sur des interviews d'interprètes et un "focus group". Les observations faites sur l'ensemble de ces études nous ont permis de croiser nos données et de dégager les éléments pertinents de nos résultats pour une avancée dans la compréhension du processus cognitif de l'interprétation en langue des signes.

Le rapport entre ces différentes capacités langagières a été étudié chez des enfants sourds bilingues de Suisse Romande, en langue des signes française et en français écrit. Les capacités de 39 sujets ont été évaluées, en production et en compréhension, au niveau discursif et morpho-syntaxique. D'autres facteurs pouvant influencer ces capacités (français oral, capacités cognitives, caractéristiques familiales et scolaires) ont aussi été considérés. Les résultats montrent un lien positif et très significatif entre les capacités développées en français écrit et en langue des signes française. La relation semble plus importante en compréhension qu'en production et sur le plan discursif que sur le plan morpho-syntaxique. En outre, les capacités langagières orales paraissent un facteur également important dans cette interaction.

Book excerpt: Les difficultés d’acquisition et de maîtrise de la lecture chez les personnes sourdes étant fréquentes, il nous a semblé intéressant d’étudier les mécanismes de la lecture de mots isolés chez des 32 enfants sourds exposés à la Langue des Signes Française (LSF) et âgés entre 8 et 13 ans. Nous avons plus particulièrement cherché à comprendre le lien pouvant s’établir chez les enfants sourds lecteurs entre les trois variables suivantes : le niveau de compréhension lexicale en LSF, la compréhension écrite de mots isolés, et l’identification de mots écrits. Pour cela, nous avons utilisé deux protocoles d’évaluation de la compréhension lexicale en LSF et en français écrit élaborés par Martin et Noël (2011) et Hege et Paze (2012), ainsi que l’épreuve d’identification de mots écrits du Bilan de Langage Informatisé de Khomsi (2002). Notre étude a également pris en compte d’autres variables pouvant influencer la compréhension lexicale écrite, telles que les caractéristiques psycholinguistiques des mots (fréquence, longueur, et régularité), l’âge de l’enfant, et d’autres paramètres propres à la surdité (l’appareillage et le statut auditif des parents). Une corrélation a été montrée entre le niveau d’identification de mots écrits et le niveau de compréhension lexicale écrite. L’effet du statut auditif des parents semble mettre en avant une voie de lecture lexicale plus efficiente chez les enfants sourds de parents sourds. Les variables psycholinguistiques des items n’ont pas montré de résultats statistiquement significatifs. En outre, les passations auprès de notre population ont permis d’étalonner les deux protocoles pour des enfants d’âge primaire
