Book Synopsis Computational Rheology by : Robert G. Owens
Download or read book Computational Rheology written by Robert G. Owens and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2002 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work traces the development of numerical methods for non-Newtonian flows from the late 1960s to 2001. It begins with broad coverage of non-Newtonian fluids, including their mathematical modelling and analysis, and then specific computational techniques are discussed.
Book Synopsis Basic Concepts for Simple and Complex Liquids by : Jean-Louis Barrat
Download or read book Basic Concepts for Simple and Complex Liquids written by Jean-Louis Barrat and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-03-27 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presenting a unified approach, this book focusses on the concepts and theoretical methods that are necessary for an understanding of the physics and chemistry of the fluid state. The authors do not attempt to cover the whole field in an encyclopedic manner. Instead, important ideas are presented in a concise and rigorous style, and illustrated with examples from both simple molecular liquids and more complex soft condensed matter systems such as polymers, colloids, and liquid crystals.
Book Synopsis Numerical Methods for Non-Newtonian Fluids by : Philippe G. Ciarlet
Download or read book Numerical Methods for Non-Newtonian Fluids written by Philippe G. Ciarlet and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1990 with total page 827 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Handbook of Numerical Methods for Hyperbolic Problems explores the changes that have taken place in the past few decades regarding literature in the design, analysis and application of various numerical algorithms for solving hyperbolic equations. This volume provides concise summaries from experts in different types of algorithms, so that readers can find a variety of algorithms under different situations and readily understand their relative advantages and limitations.

Book Synopsis Eléments d'analyse pour l'étude de quelques modèles d'écoulements de fluides visqueux incompressibles by : Franck Boyer
Download or read book Eléments d'analyse pour l'étude de quelques modèles d'écoulements de fluides visqueux incompressibles written by Franck Boyer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-12-23 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis The Couette-Taylor Problem by : Pascal Chossat
Download or read book The Couette-Taylor Problem written by Pascal Chossat and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1. 1 A paradigm About one hundred years ago, Maurice Couette, a French physicist, de signed an apparatus consisting of two coaxial cylinders, the space between the cylinders being filled with a viscous fluid and the outer cylinder being rotated at angular velocity O2. The purpose of this experiment was, follow ing an idea of the Austrian physicist Max Margules, to deduce the viscosity of the fluid from measurements of the torque exerted by the fluid on the inner cylinder (the fluid is assumed to adhere to the walls of the cylinders). At least when O is not too large, the fluid flow is nearly laminar and 2 the method of Couette is valuable because the torque is then proportional to 110 , where II is the kinematic viscosity of the fluid. If, however, O is 2 2 increased to a very large value, the flow becomes eventually turbulent. A few years later, Arnulph Mallock designed a similar apparatus but allowed the inner cylinder to rotate with angular velocity 01, while O2 = o. The surprise was that the laminar flow, now known as the Couette flow, was not observable when 0 exceeded a certain "low" critical value Ole, even 1 though, as we shall see in Chapter II, it is a solution of the model equations for any values of 0 and O .
