Book excerpt: L'objet de ce travail est le developpement et la validation d'un schema numerique de resolution des equations de la couche limite tridimensionnelle incompressible. Dans les turbomachines hydrauliques, les couches limites, tres minces, influencent fortement les ecoulements secondaires et par consequent le rendement des machines. Elles restent difficilement accessibles aux codes qui resolvent les equations de navier-stokes sur tout le domaine. Sur un maillage raffine pres des parois, le couplage d'un code de couche limite avec un solveur navier-stokes permet de limiter le cout de calcul. En exploitant la nature hyperbolique du modele de couche limite, le schema propose, explicite le long de la paroi, admet de grands pas de temps, ce qui permet une convergence rapide. L'introduction d'une diffusion numerique adaptee au domaine d'influence local preserve la stabilite du schema et la precision du second ordre en espace. Nous presentons en detail les etudes menees afin d'etablir la precision et la stabilite du schema propose : - etude de l'equation equivalente pour determiner l'ordre de precision en temps et en espace. - comparaison aux solutions des equations differentielles qui regissent les couches limites laminaires auto-semblables. - caracterisation de la propagation et de l'amplification des oscillations de la solution avec et sans diffusion numerique. - analyse lineaire de stabilite au sens de von neumann, afin de delimiter les domaines de validite des differents types de diffusion numerique proposes. Deux applications du code de couche limite en ecoulement turbulent sont presentees pour completer la validation du schema. Les resultats obtenus sont satisfaisants, compte tenu des incertitudes sur la modelisation de la turbulence. Enfin, nous envisageons l'application du schema a la determination de la viscosite turbulente a partir de profils de vitesse moyenne.

The Symposium was arranged in the following sessions: Review of Fire-Related Aircraft Accidents (3); Fire Safety Standards and Research Programmes (6); Aircraft Internal Fires (9); Aircraft External Fires (2); Fire Safety of Military Weapon Systems (3); Fire Hardening by Advanced Materials and Structural Design (8); Passenger Behaviour in Emergency Situations (3); and Passenger Protective Equipment (4). The Technical Evaluation Report and and Addendum are included at the beginning of the Proceedings. Questions and answers of the discussions follow each paper. The last AGARD review on the subject took place in a Specialists' Meeting in 1975, followed by a Working Group Report in 1979 and Lecture Series in 1982. The purpose of the Symposium was a review of the present state-of-the-art and of the last improvements. Although the safety standards in aviation are already very high, there is still room for improvements. They are listed in the Conclusions and Recommendations of the Technical Evaluation Report and in the Addendum.
