La faible amplitude des ondes gravitationnelles nécessite des détecteurs spécifiques et très sensibles. Advanced Virgo est un interféromètre kilométrique de deuxième génération dédié à la détection des ondes gravitationnelles. Un des éléments nécessaires pour atteindre la sensibilité requise est le système optique de filtrage appelé l'Output Mode Cleaner ou OMC, placé en sortie de l'interféromètre, et composé de deux cavités optiques. Ce manuscrit présente l'étude et la caractérisation de ce système optique de filtrage. Ce travail a permis de sélectionner les deux cavités actuellement installées dans le détecteur Advanced Virgo. Les performances de filtrage et l'impact de l'OMC sur la sensibilité du détecteur sont également décrits.

This data taking was very successful, with the first direct detection of a binary black hole merger (GW170814) using the full network of three interferometers, and the first detection and localization of a binary neutron star merger (GW170817). The second generation of gravitational wave detector, Advanced Virgo, is capable of detecting differential displacements of the order of 10–21m. This means that it is highly sensitive to any disturbance, including the seismic movement of the Earth. For this reason an active control is necessary to keep the detector in place with sufficient accuracy.

Book excerpt: En septembre 2015, le détecteur LIGO a permis la première observation directe d'ondes gravitationnelles. Ce détecteur terrestre, tout comme le détecteur européen VIRGO, est basé sur des technologies purement optiques. Ces instruments sont extrêmement sensibles autour de 100 Hz mais ils sont limités en dessous de quelques dizaines de Hertz par différentes sources de bruit (bruit sismique, bruit newtonien...) qui ne sont pas distinguables de l'effet du passage d'une onde gravitationnelle.Le principe du projet MIGA (Matter wave - laser based Interferometer Gravitation Antenna) est de coupler un interféromètre optique avec plusieurs interféromètres atomiques séparés spatialement afin d'être sensible aux ondes gravitationnelles à plus basse fréquence (typiquement autour d'un Hertz). Les atomes froids sont lancés en configuration fontaine et sont séparés, réfléchis et recombinés par des impulsions laser effectuées dans une cavité optique de 300 m de long. Ces impulsions bénéficieront du gain optique intrinsèque au résonateur, leur permettant d'atteindre la puissance nécessaire à la réalisation de transitions de Bragg d'ordre élevé, augmentant ainsi la sensibilité des interféromètres atomiques. Chaque interféromètre mesure le champ gravitationnel local et les vibrations des miroirs. Le bruit sismique est donc rejeté dans le cas de mesures différentielles et en reconstruisant spatialement le champ gravitationnel, on pourra différencier le signal dû aux ondes gravitationnelles, qui est un pur gradient à l'échelle de l'instrument, du bruit newtonien qui a une signature spatiale.Les cavités de 300 m seront installées au LSBB (Laboratoire Souterrain Bas Bruit) à Rustrel, où l'antenne MIGA pourra bénéficier d'un environnement remarquablement calme. Cet instrument permettra de cartographier le champ gravitationnel du site, ce qui sera d'un grand intérêt pour l'étude géologique du massif karstique.Dans le cadre de ce projet, nous réalisons au LP2N une expérience préliminaire dont l'objectif est de générer un interféromètre de 87Rb en cavités en configuration de fontaine atomique. Cet instrument utilise une nouvelle architecture de résonateurs optiques demi-dégénérés afin de manipuler les atomes de façon cohérente avec des impulsions de Bragg.

Le détecteur européen Advanced Virgo a redémarré en 2017 pour participer aux prochaines détections d'ondes gravitationnelles et localiser les sources astrophysiques.Cette thèse a pour sujet les différentes étapes du processus de détection des ondes gravitationnelles : de l'étalonnage du détecteur Advanced Virgo à l'analyse en temps réel des données du réseau d'interféromètres LIGO-Virgo. Dans un premier temps, les objectifs, la méthode et les résultats de l'étalonnage du détecteur Advanced Virgo sont décrits. Cette étape est cruciale pour comprendre la sensibilité du détecteur et pour reconstruire l'amplitude de l'onde gravitationnelle. Un nouvel algorithme, SilenteC, développé pendant la thèse est ensuite détaillé : son objectif est d'identifier les sources de bruits non-stationnaires qui limitent la sensibilité des analyses. Certains bruits transitoires interviennent de façon non-linéaire et SilenteC tente de repérer ce type de contribution. Enfin, l'analyse MBTA à faible latence pour la recherche des signaux d'ondes gravitationnelles issus de coalescences de binaires compactes est décrite. En particulier, l'accent est mis sur la caractérisation de vétos permettant de distinguer les signaux astrophysiques à sélectionner et les bruits transitoires à rejeter le plus efficacement possible.

Part three develops perturbation theory in terms of both time-dependent Feynman diagrams and time-independent Goldstone diagrams. A fourth part discusses variational methods based on correlated wavefunctions, including spin correlations. The approximation schemes are formulated for fermions and bosons at eigher zero or non-zero temperature. Although the formalism developed applies to both finite and infinite systems, the book stresses those aspects of the theory that are specific to the description of finite systems. Thus special attention is given to mean field approximations, the ensuing broken symmetries, and the associated collective motions such as rotations. Conversely, some specific features of systems with infinite numbers of degrees of freedom (such as the thermodynamic limit, critical phenomena, and the elimination of ultraviolet divergencies) are deliberately omitted.
