Book Synopsis Dream Symbols of the Individuation Process by : C. G. Jung
Download or read book Dream Symbols of the Individuation Process written by C. G. Jung and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2019-11-26 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jung’s legendary American lectures on dream interpretation In 1936 and 1937, C. G. Jung delivered two legendary seminars on dream interpretation, the first on Bailey Island, Maine, the second in New York City. Dream Symbols of the Individuation Process makes these lectures widely available for the first time, offering a compelling look at Jung as he presents his ideas candidly and in English before a rapt American audience. The dreams presented here are those of Nobel Prize–winning physicist Wolfgang Pauli, who turned to Jung for therapeutic help because of troubling personal events, emotional turmoil, and depression. Linking Pauli’s dreams to the healing wisdom found in many ages and cultures, Jung shows how the mandala—a universal archetype of wholeness—spontaneously emerges in the psyche of a modern man, and how this imagery reflects the healing process. He touches on a broad range of themes, including psychological types, mental illness, the individuation process, the principles of psychotherapeutic treatment, and the importance of the anima, shadow, and persona in masculine psychology. He also reflects on modern physics, the nature of reality, and the political currents of his time. Jung draws on examples from the Mithraic mysteries, Buddhism, Hinduism, Chinese philosophy, Kundalini yoga, and ancient Egyptian concepts of body and soul. He also discusses the symbolism of the Catholic Mass, the Trinity, and Gnostic ideas in the noncanonical Gospels. With an incisive introduction and annotations, Dream Symbols of the Individuation Process provides a rare window into Jung’s interpretation of dreams and the development of his psychology of religion.

Book Synopsis Washington Journal by : Elizabeth Drew
Download or read book Washington Journal written by Elizabeth Drew and published by Abrams. This book was released on 2015-07-21 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An updated edition of the landmark work of political journalism:“Unquestionably the best book yet on Watergate, and conceivably the best we will ever get.” —Greil Marcus, Rolling Stone Washington Journal opens in 1973 and follows the deterioration of Richard Nixon’s presidency in real time. With her unprecedented access to the top figures, Elizabeth Drew’s on-the-scene reporting is even more remarkable in hindsight, as Washington Journal captures the feeling of the period and reports conversations with the key decision-makers as they made up their minds about the most fateful vote they would cast. It also shows us the sense of fear among both close observers and the citizenry, as well as their nervous laughter at the era’s absurdities. Drew understands Richard Nixon as well as this most complex figure can be understood, and she shows how he brought himself down. This edition includes a new afterword revealing the fascinating—and frequently hilarious—story of Nixon’s efforts to regain respectability after he’d been forced from office, and also offers original insights into the meaning of Watergate and Nixon. Rich with new information unavailable at the time, the afterword is a major addition to a unique and enduring work of reportage. “Tells the story not as a tidy tale with a clear beginning and inevitable end, but as an experience thick with confusion, rumors, alarm, and half-truths . . . Helpful for trying to understand what it is like to live through a period of great confusion and potentially great import.” —Ezra Klein “An amazing book that more than stands the test of time.” —Jon Meacham, Pulitzer Prize winner and #1 New York Times-bestselling author of And There Was Light “To understand how the melodrama played out in real time in the capital, there may be no better guide than Washington Journal.” —Frank Rich, New York Magazine

Book Synopsis What Does a Real Man Look Like? by : Enrique Pascal
Download or read book What Does a Real Man Look Like? written by Enrique Pascal and published by . This book was released on 2013-02 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An email I received from a frustrated woman, and the circumstances I faced in my life, inspired me to write this book. The email read: "Hello, Enrique. My name is Brittany {name changed for privacy}. I am looking for real love. I am so hurt and frustrated. My last three relationships have sucked the life out of me. I am just sick, tired, and fed the heck up!!! One guy was married and never told me, the other ran up my credit cards, and the other is on the down-low {Living a gay lifestyle}. I had no idea. What does a real man look like? Please help me. I am a frustrated woman with a major issue. Brittany"What Does A Real MAN Look Like? This question is the million-dollar inquiry. Surprisingly, it is asked by as many men as women. Quite a few ladies are experiencing tremendous pain because they are involved with men, who have no real sense of being a responsible man. To make matters worse, society gives us conflicting messages, regarding this issue. The quest to discovering a real man is dark, troubling, and painful. What Does A Real MAN Look Like? Quite often, this question is answered with physical descriptions, such as tall, dark, handsome, blond hair, or blue eyes. Society is so fixated with the physical appearance of people, that we overlook, or pay very little attention to their emotional, mental, and spiritual state.Genuine beauty is on the inside of an individual, not on the outside. A person can have stunning features, yet, have an unattractive heart. Let us follow the model that is laid out for us by God. "But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" {1st Samuel 16:7 AMP}.What Does A Real MAN Look Like? This question echoed in my mind. The haunting sounds steered me, in the wrong direction. I was intrigued by drug dealers, womanizers, and men who represented power. Having the example or experience with a positive male is vital when a boy is in search of his identity. I became those who I admired. Living out my daydreams was a complete nightmare. The roller coaster ride was far from fun and joyous. The stomach-turning journey became unbearable, resulting in me becoming depressed and suicidal. I was filled with constant frustration because I was trying to do the right thing, but I kept failing, no matter how hard I worked. It is difficult to know what is right if you were never introduced to the rules for good living. This statement is not an excuse. I am not attempting to hide behind my shortcomings. Simply put, my life was on the job training, and my wife was on the verge of saying those dreadful words, "You are fired." I should have been fired. I was doing a terrible job at being a responsible adult and a good husband. I struggled with my transformation; however, I was determined to change my ways for the better, and become - "A Real MAN."I did not write this book to bash men or to pat myself on the back. I wrote this book to be helpful. For this reason, I exposed it all - the good, the bad, the ugly, my losses, and my gains. Many have tried and failed to define a real man. The information I am going to share with you has changed my life for the better. I am excited for you because it is going to change your life for the better as well.My journey led me to the most significant discovery in the world - the love of God. For the first time in my life, I surrendered to the Father, Who loves me more than I could ever imagine. His love for me is the reason why I made this life-changing conversion. It is the reason why I wrote this book. The love He has for you has drawn you to this book, and it is the reason why you are reading it.I encourage you to allow this book to read you, as you read it. If you do, you are going to unearth priceless treasures that are buried within!
