La creatividad forma parte de la materia que tiene como finalidad la puesta en práctica y el desarrollo de esas habilidades en el aspecto más creativo, siendo básica en la práctica del diseño, clave para la comprensión y resolución de problemas y la apuesta por la innovación y mejora de productos. En estos textos se pretende mostrar cómo comenzar a trabajar en el desarrollo de productos desde un punto de partida muy inicial, desde el concepto de producto, poniendo en práctica unas técnicas y unos métodos creativos que se irán utilizando a lo largo de su vida profesional. Otros objetivos también se relacionan con comprender el proceso creativo, sus fases y la relación con el diseño industrial, conocer técnicas creativas y aplicarlas a los métodos y el proceso de diseño, comprender y aplicar en las metodologías de diseño los procesos divergentes y convergentes, utilizar técnicas en la detección y análisis del problema para poder llegar a solucionarlo, explorar en la reflexión y creación de nuevas ideas y su posterior selección, y la capacidad de utilizar técnicas y herramientas.
