Essstorungen sind eine ernstzunehmende Krankheit, genauer gesagt, gehoren sie zu den haufigsten Verhaltensauffalligkeiten im Kindes- und Jugendalter. Die vorliegende Hausarbeit widmet sich Frage nach den Ursachen bzw. Risikofaktoren und welche praventiven Rahmenbedingungen geschaffen werden müssten, um fruhzeitig, schon im Kleinkindalter, Essstorungen und ihre chronischen korperlichen und psychischen Folgen zu verhindern. Am Beispiel der "Ganzheitlichen Gesundheitsforderung nach Sebastian Kneipp" für Kindertageseinrichtungen kann die Pravention dargestellt werden, mit dem Ziel der Ubernahme in Schule, Gemeindearbeit und privater Haushalte. Die Arbeit beschrankt sich auf die Esstorungen Adipositas und Binge-Eating-Storung.

Die äußerliche Erscheinung wird in letzten Jahrzehnten für Kinder und Jugendliche immer wichtiger. Themen wie Ernährung und Sport bekommen schon bei Kindern einen hohen Stellenwert. Dadurch können sich schon im Schulalter suchtähnliche Umgangsformen mit diesen Themen ergeben. Essstörungen zählen im Kindes- und Jugendalter zu den häufigsten chronischen Gesundheitsproblemen. Laut der KiGGS Studie finden sich bei mehr als 20 % der Kinder und Jugendlichen zwischen 11 und 17 Jahren Hinweise auf ein gestörtes Essverhalten. Nach wie vor sind Mädchen fast doppelt so häufig betroffen wie Jungen. Präventions- und Aufklärungsangebote sollten bereits in Kindergärten und Schulen ein gesundes Essverhalten fördern und insbesondere für sozial benachteiligte Bevölkerungsgruppen leicht erreichbar sein.
