Book excerpt: Sex Tourism examines the issues which emerge from sex worker-client interactions and from tourists visiting 'sex destinations'. It is a comprehensive summary of past research by academics and original primary and secondary research by the authors and has examples from Asia, Australasia and the USA. The authors have generated new models to show different dimensions of sex tourism, which normalise at least some components of the sex industry, and represent a new way of looking at sex tourism by challenging the preconceived perceptions that some people have of sex tourism or confirm the impression of others. Sex Tourism looks at issues of importance to those working in tourism, women's studies, gender studies and social change.

Book Synopsis Sexy Thai Bar Girls and Me by : Jonathan Finch
Download or read book Sexy Thai Bar Girls and Me written by Jonathan Finch and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-12-31 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sexy Thai Bar Girls / Sex Adventures / Hookers / Ladyboys / Bars / A Go Gos / Pattaya Freelancers / Walking Street / L. K. Metro / Massage Parlours / Discos / And More (From An Author Who Has Been Living In Pattaya For Ten Years And Still Thinks He's Compos Mentis!)Reviewers have claimed that Finch writes with "apparent lightness and liquidity" and that he is "a true navigator", gifting his readers with a "very well written memoir / travel book". "Sexy Thai Bar Girls And Me / Sex Adventures In Asia", an updated version of "Collected Selected Words", includes everything from before and a bit more from after. Ladyboys fly in, bedevilled punters appear to lament hoodwinkery, James Bond takes that flight back to England on a stretcher, and the opening and closing fiascos are narrated by a soak (in a far worse state than the first) who gives lots of inside information about Pattaya bars, a go gos, ladyboys and more. There is also a Lonely Planet Guide of sorts which chronicles all the best hot night-spots in Pattaya. Beautiful Thai ladies jump out at you and if you survive the first, few pages you will be hooked. Like the Pattaya punter who "loses" his air-ticket home, like the long-stay expat who extends his retirement-visa beyond his death-certificate, you won't be going back in a hurry, and when you've finished the "roller-coaster ride" (aka this book), you'll knock back a couple of Red Bulls and hit the town!
Book Synopsis Little Miss Noi: A Sanook Guide to the Thai Language (With a Reverse Glossary) by : Jay Walken
Download or read book Little Miss Noi: A Sanook Guide to the Thai Language (With a Reverse Glossary) written by Jay Walken and published by Jay Walken. This book was released on with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A revision of the author's humorous, non-pc guide for foreigners wishing to communicate in basicThai ("Little Miss Fon"), which has grown by almost 50 percent since its original publication, this book comes with an ADDITIONAL feature: a partial reverse glossary (from English to Thai). To summarize, here are a few dubiously conceivable reasons to have “Little Miss Noi” on your e-reader: --As a conversation starter to make Thais smile, and also to invite help. --Because words that you look up in dictionaries and word books are often easily forgotten. But with a single silly verse such as “Little Miss Fon Sat on Her Kon”, you will learn ten words that you are unlikely to forget: because the verse makes you laugh. --Many words are explained with context and commentary. The nearly 200 words are explained with over 10000 words of commentary and background. --An economic aid, and for self-protection. When you can speak a few crucial Thai words, prices drop quite fast! You might also be able to spot or foil a scam by listening for key words. --As a learning aid: you pronounce the word as it sounds in the book, usually by using rhyming equivalents in English rather than a pronunciation key, and give it your best shot, asking a Thai person to correct you if you are wrong. This book is a SUBJECTIVE, non-authoritative guide roughly indicating WHICH of thousands of Thai words to focus on. Don't rely on it for accurate pronunciation: use the Internet or ask a Thai friend, and keep listening to spoken Thai. Meant for NON-PC, non-uptight readers with a very generous sense of humor.

This collection contains Volumes 1 - 4 plus a bonus prequel titled "Dalisay's Wish." Gambling debts, blackmail, microfilm, a bottle of rye. Tongue on the roof of her mouth, hard-boiled exotic dancer Vicky Valentine loves solving a mystery. A scream. A dead stiff. A nymph giggling. Black and white chiaroscuro shadows represent Vicky's world. She's a globetrotting babe who fucks with abandon and rocks out, while still finding the time to paint her nails. With her bisexual sidekick and double-agent ex-boyfriend mucking up the production, Vicky dances her way to erotic ecstasy. In Volume 1, Vicky Valentine masturbates while prepping for a sultry dance at a Portland strip club. Later, she engages in a steamy lap dance with her troublesome ex-boyfriend Wilhelm Wilder. As a double-agent he’s burned her before, but his charms are difficult to resist. He offers an easy job worth fifty grand. Vicky reluctantly accepts and starts a tense cross-country motorcycle journey with her bisexual girlfriend True. After an orgasm or two, the duo discovers two mysterious G-men lurking in the shadows, but are they friend or foe? In Volume 2, Vicky Valentine and True continue their bisexual escapades through Utah. First, the desirable duo seduces two strangers into group sex. Next, they play with a large strap-on dildo in a kitschy Salt Lake City motel room. Later in New Orleans, they meet a mysterious voodoo mistress and her blind chauffeur. After a lesbian lickety-split ménage à trois, the voodoo mistress leads Vicky to an underground sex-club called Le Malaise. Without warning, Vicky faces an undead army and their diabolic master, but will Vicky survive to lick another day? In Volume 3, Vicky Valentine discovers clues to a beloved friend’s whereabouts in a New Orleans bookstore. An impromptu bookshelf blowjob leads to a flight to Seoul, South Korea. Vicky descends into Seoul’s pulsing underworld with lipstick lesbian temptations, lovers abound, and assassins sent to kill her. Bewitched, Vicky falls for a transsexual nightclub singer who gives new meaning to “Drop dead gorgeous.” Vicky enlists the help of a sexy Interpol agent, screws a handsome stud in a Korean love motel, and discovers a terrible surprise in a nightclub’s washroom. With betrayal around every corner, will K-pop best Vicky once and for all? In Volume 4, Vicky Valentine journeys through a carnal odyssey on a mysterious island. Like Dante’s hell, the subterranean complex displays sexual depravity as one moves through the levels and corridors. Sneaking around like a cat in heat, Vicky indulges in a dominatrix training day, masturbates to group sex on voyeuristic computer monitors, and slides herself into a massive oil orgy. Reaching the top of the secret base, she faces her archenemy, the nefarious Don Diab. As he unveils the crux of his occult power, the dark magician brings down the heavens and reveals a terrible reality. Will this truth shatter Vicky’s heart now and forever? In the "Dalisay's Wish" prequel, Vicky Valentine works as a bar girl in Angeles City, the Philippines, the sex capital of Southeast Asia. Expatriate lowlifes and criminals abound in this dark world of steamy sex for profit. Voyeurism draws Vicky into the treacherous underbelly of Manila. Vicky befriends an amnesiac call girl trying to escape a pimp’s clutches. In walks a mysterious German stranger who offers help, romance, and an impromptu ménage à trois. Even with help absconding from the Philippines proves difficult. Vicky escapes this den of debauchery, but at what cost? * Warning: This is a serialized story with massive cliffhangers.
Download or read book Pattaya written by Nathan Renly and published by . This book was released on 2019-03-15 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Amateur travel author Nathan Renly continues his saga of excursions to Southeast Asia seeking companionship from beautiful ladies, this time staying a month in Pattaya, Thailand. In this EROTIC TRAVEL NOVEL, he finds himself struggling to engage in a fulfilling relationship, at times being taken advantage of by working girls and other tourists. This book is about the interactions, debauchery, and raw emotions that a 50 year-old lonely American man experiences during his intimate encounters with girls less than half his age in Pattaya's red-light districts. "As I moped around my condo for the entire day, I looked for excuses to get out, to find a street walker somewhere and manhandle her, to hate-fuck all my self-pity away in one glorious assault. In my mind, it wasn't myself that was the problem, it was Pattaya. I was resentful and angry." Includes Guide to Pattaya's Sex Districts and island getaways: Walking Street Soi 6 Soi LK Metro Soi 13 Koh Larn Koh Lanta "The most enjoyable night? Probably the blurry, drunken image of Ben's shit-eating grin while plowing the ass of the Soi 6 spinner as she braced herself against my shoulders, desperate to keep my dick from plopping out of her cunt. It certainly wasn't the goddess curled under my arm the last week, the image of every man's desires, ripping my heart and wallet away with her cold, savage touch. Sitting in the cramped economy class of the eastbound A380, gliding above the Aluetians, my stomach churned like a bachelor jilted at the altar. "She's only a whore," I assured myself. The world believes that men go to Pattaya for sex. Tens of thousands of young ladies offering their bodies to foreign men for the price of a nice dinner. For some of us who make the trip, we discover the offers far exceed sexual services. Emotions between myself and the girls I employ are often real. It's not the surgical style prostitution common in Western countries. Thai girls sell themselves to meet a foreigner, where age difference is not a deal-breaker, and the profession is merely a stepping stone. Many men take advantage of this. Preying on the naïve girls' desires to find a husband, but themselves only interested in a fun getaway from Western life, and the feeling of being young again with a sexy lady. This is me. Paying for sex is fun, but the feeling of adoration is what I make the journey for. Though after THIS excursion, I wished I was merely a drunken sex-starved tourist, spending no more time with the girls than was necessary to climax. Simpler that way. Letting a Thai bargirl into your heart and wallet will ruin a vacation faster than a broken airplane engine. The valium I availed myself of from the Thai pharmacy slowed my brain enough for the rehash of the prior month's events to ease and I drifted away with my head propped on the scrunched-up airline pillow. Flying home was a smooth ride, the flight bound for Thailand a month earlier was anything but... "
Book Synopsis The East, the West, and Sex by : Richard Bernstein
Download or read book The East, the West, and Sex written by Richard Bernstein and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2009-06-02 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this wide-ranging history, Richard Bernstein explores the connection between sex and power as it has played out between Eastern cultures and the Western explorers, merchants, and conquerors who have visited them. This illuminating book describes the historical and ongoing encounter between these travelers and the morally ambiguous opportunities they found in foreign lands. Bernstein’s narrative teems with real figures, from Marco Polo and his investigation into the harem of Kublai Khan; the nineteenth-century American missionary Isabella Thoburn and her efforts to stamp out the “sinfulness” of the Mughal culture of India; Gustave Flaubert and his dalliances with Egyptian prostitutes; to modern-day sex tourists in Southeast Asia, as well as the women that they both exploit and enrich. Provocative and insightful, The East, The West, and Sex is a lucid look at a pervasive and yet mostly ignored subject.

Book Synopsis Sexual Nature/Sexual Culture by : Paul R. Abramson
Download or read book Sexual Nature/Sexual Culture written by Paul R. Abramson and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 1995-07 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this multidisciplinary study of human sexuality, an international team of scholars looks at the influences of nature and nurture, biology and culture, and sex and gender in the sexual experiences of humans and other primates. Using as its center the idea that sexual pleasure is the primary motivational force behind human sexuality and that reproduction is simply a byproduct of the pleasurability of sex, this book examines sexuality at the individual, societal, and cultural levels. Beginning with a look at the evolution of sexuality in humans and other primates, the essays in the first section examine the sexual ingenuity of primates, the dominant theories of sexual behavior, the differences in male and female sexual interest and behavior, and the role of physical attractiveness in mate selection. The focus then shifts to biological approaches to sexuality, especially the genetic and hormonal origins of sexual orientation, gender, and pleasure. The essays go on to look at the role of pleasure in different cultures. Included are essays on love among the tribespeople of the Brazilian rain forest and the regulation of adolescent sexuality in India. Finally, several contributors look at the methodological issues in the study of human sexuality, paying particular attention to the problems with research that relies on people's memories of their sexual experiences. The contributors are Angela Pattatucci, Dean Hamer, David Greenberg, Frans de Waal, Mary McDonald Pavelka, Kim Wallen, Donald Symons, Heino Meyer-Bahlburg, Jean D. Wilson, Donald Tuzin, Lawrence Cohen, Thomas Gregor, Lenore Manderson, Robert C. Bailey, Alice Schlegel, Edward H. Kaplan, Richard Berk, Paul R. Abramson, Paul Okami, and Stephen D. Pinkerton. Spanning the chasm of the nature versus nurture debate, Sexual Nature/Sexual Culture is a look at human sexuality as a complex interaction of genetic potentials and cultural influences. This book will be of interest to a wide range of readers—from scholars and students in psychology, anthropology, sociology, and history to clinicians, researchers, and others seeking to understand the many dimensions of sexuality. "If we ever expect to solve the sexually based problems that modern societies face, we must encourage investigations of human sexual behavior. Moreover, those investigations should employ a broad range of disciplines—looking at sex from all angles, which is precisely what Sexual Nature, Sexual Culture does."—Mike May, American Scientist "...This timely and relevant book reminds us that we cannot rely on simple solutions to complex problems. It represents a transdiciplinary approach integrating knowledge from diverse fields and provides the reader with a challenging and rewarding experience. Especially for those who are involved in teaching human sexuality to medical students and other health care professionals, this book is highly recommended."—Gerald Wiviortt, M.D., Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease "In short, this volume contains much to stimulate, inform, and amuse, in varying proportions. What more can one ask?"—Pierre L. van den Berghe, Journal of the History of Sexuality "...the book succeeds in bring together some of the sharpest thinkers in the field of human sexuality, and goes a long way toward clarifying the diverse perspectives that currently exist."—David M. Buss and Todd K. Shackelford, Quarterly Review of Biology
Book Synopsis Fire Dancers in Thailand's Tourism Industry by : Tiffany Rae Pollock
Download or read book Fire Dancers in Thailand's Tourism Industry written by Tiffany Rae Pollock and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2024-05-15 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fire Dancers in Thailand's Tourism Industry explores the evolution of fire dancing from informal community jam sessions into the iconic, tourist-oriented performances at beach parties and bars, through a close consideration of the role of affect in the lives of fire dancers in the ever-changing scene. Rather than pursuing the common notion that tourism industries are exploitative enterprises that oppress workers, Tiffany Rae Pollock centers the perspectives of fire artists themselves, who view the industry as simultaneously generative and destructive. Dancers reveal how they employ affect to navigate their lives, art, and labor in this context, showcasing how affect is not only a force that acts on people but also is used and shaped by social actors toward their own ends. Fire Dancers in Thailand's Tourism Industry highlights men as affective laborers, investigating how they manage the eroticization of their identities and the intersections of art and labor in tourist economies. Exploring moments of performance and everyday life, Pollock examines how fire artists reimagine their labor, lives, and communities in Thailand's tourism industry.
Book Synopsis Women and Sex Tourism Landscapes by : Erin Sanders-McDonagh
Download or read book Women and Sex Tourism Landscapes written by Erin Sanders-McDonagh and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2016-08-12 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sexual spaces, normally inhabited by (mostly) female sex workers, are understood as masculine spaces, and positioned for and around male consumers. However, red light zones and public sex performances in both Thailand and Holland are being explored and visually consumed by female tourists in significant numbers. Their presence in red light districts and sexual venues is at odds with the ways in which sexual spaces have normally been positioned. Woman and Sex Tourism Landscapes explores female tourists' interactions with highly sexualized spaces and places in two very different contexts: the Netherlands and Thailand. Addressing this incongruence, this text explores the ways in which these spaces are constructed, and examines the different relations that govern the management of, and female tourist interactions with these liminal, sexual zones. Ethnographic data collected in both countries suggests that far from being male-centred spaces, the red light districts and associated sexual entertainment venues are very much open to female tourists. Drawing on this research the author argues that some women are indeed interested in exploring sexualized zones, challenging assumptions about women’s involvements with sexual space. Thinking specifically about the visual nature of women's sexualized experiences, the analysis draws on a range of different theoretical understandings that address power, privilege, and the gaze. An important contribution to a range of debates, this book will appeal to students and researchers in tourism, geography, sociology, gender studies and cultural theory.
