Book excerpt: Equilibrium Constants of Liquid-Liquid Distribution Reactions, Part IV: Chelating Extractants is a compilation of liquid-liquid distribution equilibrium constants, with emphasis on extractants that form chelates. This tabulation includes all data published up to the end of 1972 for the major chelating extractants, and the given equilibrium parameters are supplemented by calculations (or recalculations) from experimental results. This monograph consists of 12 chapters and characterizes the homogeneous equilibria involving the acid dissociation of the extractant in the aqueous phase and adduct or mixed ligand complex formation in the organic phase. The information given for each system includes the chemical reactions, the equilibrium constant, the temperature, and the composition of the aqueous and organic phases. Compounds covered include dialkyldithiocarbamic acids (such as diethyldithiocarbamic acid and dibutyldithioarbamic acid), tropolones (beta-isopropyltropolone and gamma-isopropyltropolone), N-acylhydroxylamines, N-nitroso-N-arylhydroxylamines (cupferrons), alpha-dioximes, diarylthiocarbazones (dithizones), 8-hydroxyquinolines, 8-mercaptoquinolines, o-dimercaptobenzenes (toluene-3,4-dithiol), beta-diketones (such as acetylacetone and hexafluoroacetylacetone), 4-acylpyrazol-5-ones, and o-nitrosophenols (1-nitroso-2-naphthol and 2-nitroso-1-naphthol). This book will be of interest to chemists.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Equilibrium Constants of Liquid-liquid Distribution Reactions Introduction, and Part 1: Organophosphorus Extractants focuses on the numerical representations, formulas, reactions, and characteristics of equilibrium constants of organophosphorus extractants. The text underscores that only a number of papers focusing on equilibrium constants for distribution reactions involving metal complexes are published before 1947. The book also states that no equilibrium constants have been reported on several organophosphorus extractants although they are used in practical extraction work. The publication provides a list of extractants, ligands, and metal ions. These include distribution and dissociation of extractants; dimerization and aggregation of extractants; homogeneous equilibria of extractants with metal ions; extraction of metal ions with extractants as ligands; and reactions of extractants with diluents and other solvents. The manuscript also highlights reactions, temperature, and equilibrium constants. The book is a valuable source of data for readers interested in the equilibrium constants of organophosphorus extractants.
Book Synopsis Critical Evaluation of Equilibrium Constants Involving 8-Hydroxyquinoline and Its Metal Chelates by : J. Stary
Download or read book Critical Evaluation of Equilibrium Constants Involving 8-Hydroxyquinoline and Its Metal Chelates written by J. Stary and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Critical Evaluation of Equilibrium Constants Involving 8-Hydroxyquinoline and Its Metal Chelates presents and evaluates the published data on the solubility, dissociation, and liquid–liquid distribution of oxine and its metal chelates to recommend the most reliable numerical data. This book explores the dissociation constants of oxine in aqueous solutions. Organized into four chapters, this book begins with an overview of the characteristics of 8-hydroxyquinoline (oxine). This text then examines the total solubility of oxine in aqueous solution at different pH values. Other chapters consider the distribution of oxine between an aqueous phase and an organic solvent, which can be generally described by an equation where the bar indicates the organic phase species. This book discusses as well the overall extraction constant involving metal chelate formation. The final chapter deals with the overall stability constants of metal oxinate. This book is a valuable resource for geochemists, chemists, scientists, and research workers.

Book excerpt: Expertise in electrolyte systems has become increasingly important in traditional CPI operations, as well as in oil/gas exploration and production. This book is the source for predicting electrolyte systems behavior, an indispensable "do-it-yourself" guide, with a blueprint for formulating predictive mathematical electrolyte models, recommended tabular values to use in these models, and annotated bibliographies. The final chapter is a general recipe for formulating complete predictive models for electrolytes, along with a series of worked illustrative examples. It can serve as a useful research and application tool for the practicing process engineer, and as a textbook for the chemical engineering student.

This book was released on 2016-09-14 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ionisation Constants of Inorganic Acids and Bases in Aqueous Solution, Second Edition provides a compilation of tables that summarize relevant data recorded in the literature up to the end of 1980 for the ionization constants of inorganic acids and bases in aqueous solution. This book includes references to acidity functions for strong acids and bases, as well as details about the formation of polynuclear species. This text then explains the details of each column of the tables, wherein column 1 gives the name of the substance and the negative logarithm of the ionization constant and column 2 gives the temperature of measurements in degree Celsius. This book presents as well the method of measurement and the literature references that are listed alphabetically at the end of the tables. Chemists will find this book useful.

Book Synopsis Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts by : Paolo Franzosini
Download or read book Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts written by Paolo Franzosini and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermodynamic and Transport Properties of Organic Salts is concerned with the thermodynamic and transport properties of organic salts, namely, pure salts, mixtures, and solutions. The transport properties of pure molten salts and binary mixtures of molten salts with organic ions are given, along with the transport properties of organic salts in aqueous solutions. This book is divided into three sections and opens with a discussion on the statistical treatment and of computer simulation methods for molten salts as well as their results for pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) data. The PVT data for organic molten salts determined experimentally are considered, and the thermal properties as well as the melting mechanism of pure salts are described. A method by which PVT data at high pressure can be estimated from those at low pressure with sufficiently high accuracy is also outlined. The next section deals with salt mixtures, their phase diagrams, and their transport properties. The final section looks at the transport properties of organic salts in aqueous solutions; thermodynamic quantities of micelle formation; and formation of lyotropic liquid crystals by organic salts. Two appendixes showing the structure of the pure solids and the use of the melts in electrochemical studies are included. This monograph will be a useful resource for organic chemists.

Download or read book Solvent Extraction 1990 written by Satoshi Kusakabe and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1992 with total page 1166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solvent extraction is employed very widely in both fundamental research and technology because of the remarkable features of this simple but very effective technique for the separation of different materials. The International Solvent Extraction Conference 1990 was a forum for the presentation of papers on up-to-date research in this field. The collection of the papers in these volumes will be invaluable because information on solvent extraction is often scattered in various journals and proceedings which make the following of developments difficult.
