This book focuses on environmental health issues, scientific understanding of causes, and promising future approaches to control the foremost environmental problems in developed and developing countries. This book emphasizes on the broad spectrum of information resources required in the field of environmental health and provides a detailed review of manenvironmenthealth interrelationships and a basic background for scientists working in the area of environmental health. It offers an overview of the methodology and paradigms of the inter-related, dynamic, evolving fields, ranging from ecology to epidemiology and from environmental health to toxicology. The main features of the book are an evaluation of environmental parameters (such as air quality, water quality, environmental emission) in the perspective of human health deterioration and an improvement of awareness on public health status as a component of human welfare. The chapters include the response of human body to environmental pollutants and also encompass the effects of different environmental factors: physical, chemical, and biological agents of environmental contamination; vectors for dissemination (air, water, soil); solid and hazardous waste, and susceptible populations; bio-markers and risk analysis; the scientific basis for policy decision; occupational health and safety issues; emerging global environmental problems like dissemination of antibiotics in environment and other important areas such as metagenomics application for environmental health. This book is a fundamental text for policy- makers requiring a scientific explanation, for the development of innovative environmental regulations and exposure reduction strategies, scientists researching public health and environmental contamination, and members of the community concerned in human health issues.

This book was released on 2018-01-13 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The integrity of knowledge that emerges from research is based on individual and collective adherence to core values of objectivity, honesty, openness, fairness, accountability, and stewardship. Integrity in science means that the organizations in which research is conducted encourage those involved to exemplify these values in every step of the research process. Understanding the dynamics that support â€" or distort â€" practices that uphold the integrity of research by all participants ensures that the research enterprise advances knowledge. The 1992 report Responsible Science: Ensuring the Integrity of the Research Process evaluated issues related to scientific responsibility and the conduct of research. It provided a valuable service in describing and analyzing a very complicated set of issues, and has served as a crucial basis for thinking about research integrity for more than two decades. However, as experience has accumulated with various forms of research misconduct, detrimental research practices, and other forms of misconduct, as subsequent empirical research has revealed more about the nature of scientific misconduct, and because technological and social changes have altered the environment in which science is conducted, it is clear that the framework established more than two decades ago needs to be updated. Responsible Science served as a valuable benchmark to set the context for this most recent analysis and to help guide the committee's thought process. Fostering Integrity in Research identifies best practices in research and recommends practical options for discouraging and addressing research misconduct and detrimental research practices.
