Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces entrepreneurship as a concept that is popular in the general media but also in academic study. What is evident is due to its positive and negative connotations in society. This book identifies that it is important to debate the topic of entrepreneurship in order to understand its multi-faceted nature. This edited book includes a number of chapters that discuss multidimensional perspectives from an international perspective. This book emphasizes the geo-political frontiers related to entrepreneurship based on current debates, which includes recent global changes. This book also challenges the debatable as to whether entrepreneurship should be examined at the individual, firm, regional, or industry level. This book goes further to demonstrate that this depends on the type and nature of the study. Therefore, it is better to consider entrepreneurship in a multidimensional way that incorporates different levels of analysis. This book shows each level of analysis that can be considered from a geo-political perspective. This means including an overview of the cultural factors that influence entrepreneurial behavior. In this way, this book helps readers to understand how and why geography and politics influence entrepreneurial action.

Book Synopsis Entrepreneurial Education by : Kristiina Erkkilä
Download or read book Entrepreneurial Education written by Kristiina Erkkilä and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2000 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The study finds that arguments supporting or opposing entrepreneurial education are highly contextual. According to the literature studied, entrepreneurship education is more directly focused upon small business and entrepreneurship, whereas enterprise education is aimed at the development of enterprising behavior, skills and attributes, not only for business use. Furthermore, debates on entrepreneurial education are more complex than shown in previous studies. The debate in the United States is more diverse and practice-driven than those are in the United Kingdom and Finland. In addition, the discourse of each country has unique categories." "The book includes suggestions for future research and gives recommendations particularly for Finnish practice, which could also benefit other societies just starting their path in entrepreneurial education. The study serves as a comprehensive literature source for future interests and research."--BOOK JACKET.

Book excerpt: There has been significant interest in role of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial activities in driving global economic growth and also in responding to changing social and environmental conditions that are affecting societies globally. The identification and capture of international opportunities itself represent an act of entrepreneurship by disrupting and making markets in foreign countries. Historically, international entrepreneurship literature has focused on the rapid and early internationalization of new ventures and start-ups. Yet, an increasing number of multinational enterprises (MNEs) are encouraging and developing corporate intrapreneurship, where managers promote innovation in products and processes. Moreover, we have witnessed entrepreneurs and their start-ups' activities solving social, cultural, and environmental challenges in foreign markets. This dedicated volume discusses these contemporary and emerging issues of entrepreneurship in International Business and is an essential read for entrepreneurs and researchers.

Book Synopsis Rethinking Entrepreneurship by : Alain Fayolle
Download or read book Rethinking Entrepreneurship written by Alain Fayolle and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-09-16 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Entrepreneurship is a growing field of research, attracting researchers from many different disciplines including economics, sociology, psychology, and management. The concept of entrepreneurship, and research in the field, is becoming institutionalized, increasingly oriented by influential trends, theories and methods, following the mainstream and being shaped accordingly. The objective of this book is to move beyond mainstream approaches and assumptions which are dominating the field, and to raise questions about the nature and process of entrepreneurship research. Over twelve chapters, leading international thinkers in the field debate the impact and the consequences of institutionalization. Taking key research orientations including multidisciplinarity, international entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, and ethics, it takes a critical and constructive and sometimes controversial posture and encourages a re-examination of the way we look at the social and economic phenomenon of entrepreneurship. This book is vital reading for entrepreneurship researchers and educators, advanced students and policy-makers in Entrepreneurship, Economics, Sociology and Psychology.

Book Synopsis Against Entrepreneurship by : Anders Örtenblad
Download or read book Against Entrepreneurship written by Anders Örtenblad and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-10-28 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores whether there is reason to be against entrepreneurship. Just like literature on the darker sides of entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship, the book is an answer to the one-sided, overly positive and uncritical image of entrepreneurship. The “twist” in this book, in comparison with literature on dark sides of entrepreneurship, is to explore being against entrepreneurship. From various perspectives such as lexical semantics, Marxism, philosophy of science and psychology, the contributors contemplate on why there may be reason to be against entrepreneurship discourse as well as entrepreneurship practice. Some chapters are based on first-hand empirical data, others are conceptual. The main overall conclusion is that there are some strong arguments for being against entrepreneurship discourse, as well as for being against certain aspects of entrepreneurship practice. Before it is reasonable to be against entrepreneurship practice in total, a convincing and practicable alternative needs to be developed. This book will be valuable reading for entrepreneurship scholars, as well as academics working in the fields of business ethics, (critical) management, and international business.
