Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Enigmas of Life Nine years have now elapsed since the author of the Enigmas of Life ceased to be among us, and eighteen years since he published this book and in republishing it, a few words about him and the work that he did may therefore have become necessary. That it should now be offered to the public in a more accessible form than the one in which it originally appeared, is due to the steady interest it continues to excite in the circle which it has already reached, and the desire of those who have at heart the recognition of its merits that that circle should be more widely extended. The Enigmas of Life was one of Mr Greg's latest works, but it contains the scattered thoughts of a lifetime, which he brought together from the jottings of his note-book when he had reason to believe that they might have value and interest for others. He did not put them forth with any pretensions to a systematic scheme of thought, or a serious contribution to established conclusions, but, as he himself says, rather as suggested thoughts that may fructify in other minds than distinct propositions which it is sought argumentatively to prove. They have charmed and stimulated other minds to a degree which he did not anticipate. As an eminent writer says: The chapters on Malthus and on the non-survival of the Fittest make a very genuine and original contribution to modern thought. But it is the later essays in the little volume that touched most readers, and will for long continue to touch them. They are as far as possible from being vague, or misty, or aimless. Yet they have, what is so curiously rare in English literature, the charm of reverie. They have the ever seductive note of meditation and inwardness, which, when it sounds true, as it assuredly did here, moves the spirit like a divine music. There is none of the thunder of Carlyle (which, for that matter, one may easily come in time to find prodigiously useless and unedifying), there is not the piercing concentrated ring of Emerson: but the complaints, the misgivings, the aspirations of our generation find in certain pages of Mr Greg's book a voice of mingled fervour and a union of contemplative reason with spiritual sensibility, which makes them one of the best expressions of one of the highest moods of this bewildered age. They are in the true key for religious or spiritual composition, as Rousseau's Savoyard Vicar is; thought and emotion are fused without the decorations of misplaced rhetoric. That meditations so stamped with sincerity, and so honestly directed to the actual perplexities of thoughtful people, should have met with wide and grateful acceptance, is no more than might have been expected. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Upper Room Meditations IN the opening verses of the Bible there is an in timation of the sublime truth that everything in the universe of God, both physical and spiritual, is under law. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. When the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters, then came life and light, order and beauty. From the revolutions of a planetary system to the fall of a sparrow there is nothing capricious or arbitrary or fortuitous in the divine administration. This truth is the key that will unlock many mysteries in our study of God's ways in his dealings with us as revealed in his Word and known by our experience. In the chapters that follow it is hoped that the kind ly reader will discern this truth as a golden thread running through the whole. And we will not forget that the Spirit of God is his own best interpreter. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Some of Life's Mysteries: Interpreted in the Light of the Present War Struggle Then I looked and behold, many stars appeared one by one around the great bright Star, so many that no man could number them. And I asked, What are these and whence came they? Then the Voice made reply, These are they who have laid down their lives in the spirit of the Master for all that is good and honorable and holy in the world. They have come out of great tribulation and have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God. And the stars shone so many and so bright that the whole heaven was lightened by them and the darkness of the night vanished. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Deeper Mysteries N submitting this third volume of the series begun with Special Teachings from the Arcane Science, the author is aware that the times are not yet ready for much of its contents. Still the rapidly widening outlook of multitudes encourages the venture, and gives promise that, ere the coming of a great event - one for which in humble way this book is a preparation - certain of its chapters will be accepted, and even assimi lated, by those whose eyes are toward the New Age now almost with us, and whose hearts are preparing for that large and complete message of which these pages contain only hints and fragments. Should our explanations leave many matters more or less dark, it is because we ourselves have not yet come into the day, or else that the full light of explanation must await the word of mouth from the World Teacher himself. From the title of the preceding volume, The Heart of Things, it might be inferred that in its probings and soundings we thought to' reach the central mysteries; but, like the human heart, the heart of things is seven-fold. So, despite our previous attempt, and notwithstanding our present effort, the deepest deep remains unknown. Book excerpt: Water’s wisdom on renewal, communication, and holism • How water, as a conscious organism, unites all of creation in one vast communication network • Includes the research of Masaru Emoto and Viktor Schauberger • Discusses the energetics of water, water treatments, finding the best-quality water, and the perils of bottled and distilled water Once held sacred the world over, water contains a wisdom few today acknowledge. Driving everything from our metabolic processes to weather patterns and climate change, its real significance lies in its role as a medium for metamorphosis, recycling, and exchanging energy and information. Seeking a return to our ancestors’ reverence for water, Alick Bartholomew explores water’s sacred uses, its role in our bodies and environment, and the latest scientific studies to reveal that water is a conscious organism that is self-creating and self-organizing. Examining new discoveries in quantum biology, he shows how water binds all of life into one vast network of energy, allowing instant communication and coherence. Covering the research of water visionaries such as Viktor Schauberger, Mae-Wan Ho, and Masaru Emoto, he examines the memory of water and reveals how the same water has been cycling through Earth’s history since the dawn of time, making water nature’s greatest recycling and reclaiming agent. With information on the energetics of water, water treatments, finding the best-quality water, and the perils of bottled and distilled water, this book offers us a path to reclaim the spirituality of water.
