Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is intended to provide a convenient source of reliable, up-to-date property data on single oxide ceramics for use in engineering work. Its issuance constitutes completion of the third phase in a program to update and upgrade the Databook, "Engineering Properties of Ceramics", which was issued in 1966 both as AFM L-TR-66-52 and as an American Ceramic Society publication.*This revision replaces Section 5.4, Single Oxides, of the 1966 Databook. Subsequent phases of the program will be devoted to revisions of Databook sections on borides, silicides, and sulfides. In this updating and upgrading task, selections of property values for inclusion are made from data in the 1966 edition and data obtained in a continuous survey of subsequent literature. In addition, the data are being presented in the International System (SI) of units as well as in the engineering units used in the 1966 edition. A retained feature in the revision is that most data are referenced to the original source. Also, material and testing factors influencing each reported property are specified insofar as possible.

Book Synopsis Engineering Properties of Ceramics by : James F. Lynch
Download or read book Engineering Properties of Ceramics written by James F. Lynch and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Databook of engineering properties of ceramics supersedes the Materials Selection Handbook, issued in October, 1963, as RTD-TDR-63-4102 and its two supplements dated May 1964, and April 1965. The materials covered are principally refractory inorganic compounds in the form of monophase crystalline ceramics. Exceptions are the coverage of selected refractory composite materials and intermetallic compounds, as well as metalloid elements of boron, silicon, and germanium. Excluded are glasses, carbons, graphites, and compounds melting below about 2000 F (1200 C). Properties given are those pertinent to structural engineering. The data are in a format designed to permit comparison and selection of materials as well as to provide details on each specific material. Discussions of factors affecting property values and structural application of brittle materials also are included.
Book Synopsis Ceramic Technology and Processing by : Alan G. King
Download or read book Ceramic Technology and Processing written by Alan G. King and published by William Andrew. This book was released on 2001-12-01 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perfect for the new technician or engineer entering the ceramics industry as well as for the ""old hand"" who needs an update on some aspect of ceramics processing, this resource provides practical laboratory-oriented answers to such typical processing problems as particle segregation, agglomeration, contamination, pressure gradients, adherence to tooling, and temperature gradients during drying and firing. The author examines the difficulties of practical testing and processing in the ceramic laboratory, such as vast differences in scale and equipment, and shows how to evaluate results taking such variables into account. Once the laboratory work is satisfactorily completed, the rest of the book explores serious issues involved in transferring technology from the lab bench to the plant floor and then to the customer. The author gives advice on dealing with real-life problems such as allocating human and capital resources and overcoming customer wariness of being first to try new procedures and processes. Each section contains practical, hands-on suggestions on performing and sometimes avoiding certain tasks, bringing to the reader key information that is at best sparsely available in the industry. As the author states, ""Laboratory skills are gained by hands-on experience. The intent of this book is to accelerate the process.""
