Book Synopsis Engineering Design Applications V by : Andreas Öchsner
Download or read book Engineering Design Applications V written by Andreas Öchsner and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-08-28 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gives an update on recent developments in different engineering disciplines such as mechanical, materials, computer and process engineering, focusing on modern engineering design applications. These disciplines provide the foundation for the design and development of improved structures, materials and processes. The modern design cycle is characterized by an interaction of different disciplines and a strong shift to computer-based approaches where only a few experiments are performed for verification purposes. A major driver for this development is the increased demand for cost reduction, which is also connected to environmental demands. In the transportation industry (e.g., automotive), this is connected to the demand for higher fuel efficiency, which is related to the operational costs and the lower harm for the environment. One way to fulfill such requirements is lighter structures and/or improved processes for energy conversion. Another emerging area is the interaction of classical engineering with the health, medical and environmental sector. The chapters are selected contributions of the Advanced Computational Engineering and Experimenting conference, held in July 2022 in Florence, Italy.

Book Synopsis Engineering Design with Polymers and Composites, Second Edition by : James C. Gerdeen, PhD, PE
Download or read book Engineering Design with Polymers and Composites, Second Edition written by James C. Gerdeen, PhD, PE and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2011-12-19 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineering Design with Polymers and Composites, Second Edition continues to provide one of the only textbooks on the analysis and design of mechanical components made from polymer materials. It explains how to create polymer materials to meet design specifications. After tracing the history of polymers and composites, the text describes modern design concepts, such as weight-to-strength ratio and cost-to-strength ratio, for selecting polymers and composites for design applications. It also presents computer methods for choosing polymer materials from a database, for optimal design, and for laminated plate design. New to the Second Edition This edition rearranges many chapters and adds a significant amount of new material. Composites are now covered in two chapters, instead of one. This edition also includes entirely new chapters on polymer fusing and other assembly techniques, rapid prototyping, and piezoelectric polymers. Suitable for mechanical and civil engineering students as well as practicing engineers, this book helps readers get an edge in the rapidly changing electromechanical industry. It gives them a fundamental foundation for understanding phenomena that they will encounter in real-life applications or through subsequent study and research.

Book Synopsis Natural Rubber (UTeM Press) by : Mohd Azli Salim
Download or read book Natural Rubber (UTeM Press) written by Mohd Azli Salim and published by UTeM Press. This book was released on 2020-01-01 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ISBN : 978-967-2454-09-0 Author : Mohd Azli Salim Laminated rubber-metal bearing from natural rubber also been well-known as a vibration isolator to block vibration energy. However, most of existing works on the bearing especially the mathematical models consider only the performance of the bearing due to the static force. Development of mathematical model for dynamic force and also its response is still lacking. Additionally, application of the existing rubber bearings only focuses on motion in the horizontal direction (sliding motion) intended to counter the energy coming from the earthquake. In this book, it is of interest to develop new techniques to perform the performance of the bearing subjected to axial excitation, and also to explore the potential of the vibration isolator for other applications, where dynamic loading can come from axial direction, such as cars passing by on the bridge or highway, or ground-borne vibration from railway lines. At the end, the model can be used for many applications which are mechanical, civil, building and many more.
