This book was released on 2015-02-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hegel's Encyclopaedia Logic constitutes the foundation of the system of philosophy presented in his Encyclopaedia of the Philosophical Sciences. Together with his Science of Logic, it contains the most explicit formulation of his enduringly influential dialectical method and of the categorical system underlying his thought. It offers a more compact presentation of his dialectical method than is found elsewhere, and also incorporates changes that he would have made to the second edition of the Science of Logic if he had lived to do so. This volume presents it in a new translation with a helpful introduction and notes. It will be a valuable reference work for scholars and students of Hegel and German idealism, as well as for those who are interested in the post-Hegelian character of contemporary philosophy.

Book Synopsis Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel: The Science of Logic by : Georg Wilhelm Fredrich Hegel
Download or read book Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel: The Science of Logic written by Georg Wilhelm Fredrich Hegel and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2010-08-19 with total page 865 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This translation of The Science of Logic (also known as 'Greater Logic') includes the revised Book I (1832), Book II (1813) and Book III (1816). Recent research has given us a detailed picture of the process that led Hegel to his final conception of the System and of the place of the Logic within it. We now understand how and why Hegel distanced himself from Schelling, how radical this break with his early mentor was, and to what extent it entailed a return (but with a difference) to Fichte and Kant. In the introduction to the volume, George Di Giovanni presents in synoptic form the results of recent scholarship on the subject, and, while recognizing the fault lines in Hegel's System that allow opposite interpretations, argues that the Logic marks the end of classical metaphysics. The translation is accompanied by a full apparatus of historical and explanatory notes.
Download or read book Hegel's Logic written by G. W. F. Hegel and published by Digireads.Com. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A major figure in German Idealism, early 19th century philosopher G. W. F. Hegel developed a comprehensive philosophical framework, referred to as "Absolute Idealism" which sought to describe the relation between mind and nature. Underpinning the framework of this philosophy is the assertion that in order for the human consciousness to understand the world at all there must be in some sense an identity of thought and being. "Hegel's Logic" or part one of the "Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences" is an abbreviation of Hegel's earlier "Science of Logic." It is a work in which Hegel presents the categories of thought as they are in themselves; they are the minimal conditions for thinking anything at all, the conceptions that run in the background of all our thinking. In Hegel's philosophy no amount of observing will bring us to the essence of things, instead it is the articulation of the "Geist," or spirit, in other words, the activity of thinking, that gives definition to the nature of existence. The analysis of Hegel's philosophy often results in contradictory interpretations which is illustrative of the complexity of his works as he wrote with the assumption that the reader was well versed in the works of philosophy that came before. Hegel wrote the "Encyclopedia of the Philosophical Sciences" with the intention of it being a more accessible entry point to his philosophy.

Book Synopsis The Difference Between Fichte's and Schelling's System of Philosophy by : G.W.F. Hegel
Download or read book The Difference Between Fichte's and Schelling's System of Philosophy written by G.W.F. Hegel and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1988-03-04 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this essay, Hegel attempted to show how Fichte's Science of Knowledge was an advance from the position of Kant in the Critique of Pure Reason, and how Schelling (and incidentally Hegel himself) had made a further advance from the position of Fichte. Hegel finds the idealism of Fichte too abstractly subjective and formalistic, and he tries to show how Schelling's philosophy of nature is the remedy for these weaknesses. But the most important philosophical content of the essay is probably to be found in his general introduction to these critical efforts where he deals with a number of problems about philosophical method in a way which is of general interest to philosophers, and not merely interesting to those who accept the Hegelian "dialectic method" which grew out of these first beginnings. Finally, the Difference essay is important in the development of "Nature-Philosophy" as a movement in the history of science.
Book Synopsis Hegel’s Encyclopedic System by : Sebastian Stein
Download or read book Hegel’s Encyclopedic System written by Sebastian Stein and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-09-23 with total page 216 pages. Their contributions elucidate fundamental aspects of Hegel’s encyclopedic system with an eye to its contemporary relevance. The book thus addresses system-level claims about Hegel’s unique conceptions of philosophy, philosophical "science" and its method, dialectic, speculative thinking, and the way they relate to both Hegelian and contemporary notions of nature, history, religion, freedom, and cultural praxis.
