Book Synopsis Microbial Technology by : D. Perlman
Download or read book Microbial Technology written by D. Perlman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Microbial Technology: Microbial Processes, Volume 1, describes the production and uses of economic bacteria, yeast, molds, and viruses, and reviews the technologies associated with products of microbial metabolism. It is part of a two-volume set that emerged from a worldwide survey of industrial microbiology and its contributions to agriculture, industry, medicine, and environmental control. The book contains 17 chapters that cover the development of bioinsecticides and the large-scale bioprocessing of concentrated lactic acid bacteria with emphasis on the commercial use of the resulting culture. It includes discussions of the production of single-cell protein for use in food or feed; production of yeasts and yeast products; production of butanol-acetone by fermentation; microbial production of amino acids; microbial production of antibiotics; production of microbial enzymes; microbial production of nucleosides; and production of organic acids by fermentation nucleotides. The remaining chapters cover plant cell suspension cultures and their biosynthetic potential; polysaccharides; microbial transformation of steroids and sterols; the production of vitamin B12; microbial process for riboflavin production; and the production of carotenoids.

Book Synopsis Annual Reports on Fermentation Processes by : D. Perlman
Download or read book Annual Reports on Fermentation Processes written by D. Perlman and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annual Reports on Fermentation Processes, Volume 1 furnishes a critical account of significant developments concerning fermentation processes. This book discusses the mutation, selection, and optimization of mutagenesis; fermentation substrates; and published accounts of computer-coupled fermentation systems. The waste materials as SCP substrates, immobilized cell processes, and microbial transformations of organic compounds are also elaborated. This publication likewise covers the microbiological and enzymatic conversion of ß-lactam antibiotics, microbiological production of chemical feedstocks, and aeration systems and their performance. Other topics include the toxicology and regulation of enzyme use, general considerations of immobilized enzyme systems, mutational biosynthesis, and biotransformations and the role of precursors. This volume is a good reference for students and researchers interested in fermentation research and developments.

Book Synopsis Immobilized Enzymes in Food and Microbial Processes by : Alfred Olson
Download or read book Immobilized Enzymes in Food and Microbial Processes written by Alfred Olson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last five years the potential value of immobilized enzymes has captured the imagination of an increasing number of scientists and engineers. The concept of being able to create an immobilized derivative of an enzyme which has long-term stability and is able to be recovered and reused is fascinating, to say the least. Since the industrial application of enzymes has been mostly in the food and microbial process industry it is not surprising that many of the applications of immobilized enzymes considered for commercial development fall within the area of this industry. It is for this reason that we organized a symposium on immobilized enzymes for the 166th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society. Appropriately, the symposium was jointly sponsored by the Division of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and the Division of Microbial Chemistry and Technology. Although there were at least half a dozen symposia at other meetings on various aspects of immobilized enzyme technology in the preceding ten months none had specifically addressed themselves to food and microbial processes and none had been held at a meeting such as the National ACS gathering, which is not only large but multidisciplinary. The enthusiastic response to this symposium prompted us, at the invita tion of Plenum Press, to publish the proceedings of this symposium.
