A length chapter on the famous Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortes details his interaction with the Aztec leader Montezuma. The extraordinary, albeit extinct civilization of the Incas conclude the book. There is no doubt that the monuments found in Peru are some of the most impressive in all of the Americas. Most authorities agree that long before the Inca's rise to power there was a mighty empire which these cyclopean ruins must be attributed to.
