Book Synopsis La Tendresse de Dieu by : Lamartine Petit-Monsieur
Download or read book La Tendresse de Dieu written by Lamartine Petit-Monsieur and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-07 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Dominicans and Human Rights by : Mike Deeb
Download or read book Dominicans and Human Rights written by Mike Deeb and published by ATF Press. This book was released on 2017-12-31 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To mark the long history of Dominican involvement in defence of human rights, in the year celebrating the 800th anniversary of the confirmation of the Order of Preachers, two hundred Dominican brothers, sisters and laity met in Salamanca, Spain, to discuss the contribution of the Dominican Order, in the past, present and future, in the promotion and defence of human rights. It was in that city in the sixteenth century that, prompted by his Dominican brothers, such as Bartolome de las Casas, who were defending the indigenous people of Latin America against the Spanish conquistadores, Francisco de Vitoria planted the seed of today's international human rights movement. This volume presents in original languages the eleven papers given in Salamanca as well as the statement adopted by the delegates at the end of the meeting. They combine historical views, theoretical insights and testimonies from life experience. This offers a rich contribution, not only towards strengthening the role of the Dominican Family, and even the universal church, in defending human rights, but also towards a deeper understanding of 'evangelisation' and 'mission'.

Book Synopsis An Anthropological Economy of Debt by : Bernard Hours
Download or read book An Anthropological Economy of Debt written by Bernard Hours and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2015-04-10 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Debt is often thought of as a mere economic variable governed by a simplistic mechanical logic, ignoring its other facets. Whose debt, and debt of what exactly? This volume analyzes debt as a political and social construct, with a multiplicity of purposes and agents. All of these are vectors of meanings that are highly diverse, and of subtle distinctions; they show that debt is a transverse phenomenon, cutting across spaces that are not merely economic but also domestic, social and political. Each contributor takes a fresh view of the subject, dealing with debt at a different time, in a different society, on a different scale of observation. By adopting a determinedly interdisciplinary approach, the authors reveal in the phenomenon of debt a diversity of social and gendered determinants that amount in some cases to domination, allegiance or slavery, and in others to solidarity and emancipation. Debt is at one and the same time shared, imposed, political and gendered.

Download or read book La Cité du Logos: L’ecclésiologie de Clément d’Alexandrie et son enracinement christologique written by Léon-Ferdinand Karuhije and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2022-06-20 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Clement of Alexandria (AD 150-215) is one of the most brilliant thinkers of the early Christian centuries. His teaching, steeped as much in the Bible as in Greek thought, reveals to us the nature of the debates in the early days of the expansion of Christianity. This book deals with a subject little studied to this day, namely his thoughts on the Church. Yet it is a recurring subject in his works, where he reflects at length on the Church from the point of view of the being and the mission of the divine Logos. Analysis of Clement’s discourse on the Church therefore makes it possible to revisit the main intuitions of his Christology while shedding light on his perception of Christian identity at a time when it is still under construction.
