Book Synopsis Ultra-High Temperature Materials III by : Igor L. Shabalin
Download or read book Ultra-High Temperature Materials III written by Igor L. Shabalin and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-07 with total page 797 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This exhaustive work in several volumes and over 2500 pages provides a thorough treatment of ultra-high temperature materials (with melting points around or over 2500 °C). The first volume focuses on carbon (graphene/graphite) and refractory metals (W, Re, Os, Ta, Mo, Nb and Ir), whilst the second and third are dedicated to refractory transition metal 4-5 groups carbides. Topics included are physical (structural, thermal, electro-magnetic, optical, mechanical, nuclear) and chemical (more than 3000 binary, ternary and multi-component systems, including those used for materials design, data on solid-state diffusion, wettability, interaction with various elements and compounds in solid and liquid states, gases and chemicals in aqueous solutions) properties of these materials. It will be of interest to researchers, engineers, postgraduate, graduate and undergraduate students alike. The readers/users are provided with the full qualitative and quantitative assessment, which is based on the latest updates in the field of fundamental physics and chemistry, nanotechnology, materials science, design and engineering.

Book Synopsis Rectangular-wind-tunnel Blocking Corrections Using the Velocity-ratio Method by : Rudolph W. Hensel
Download or read book Rectangular-wind-tunnel Blocking Corrections Using the Velocity-ratio Method written by Rudolph W. Hensel and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Calculations of the ratios of the velocity increments at test bodies to those at the tunnel walls caused by the solid blocking of these bodies within the walls of a closed rectangular wind tunnel are presented. The boides treated include two-dimensional airfoils; small bodies of revolution; straight, untapered, finite-span wings of varying span; and swept, untapered, finite-span wings of varying span. It is shown that, after wake blocking effects have been removed , the present method furnishes semiempirical blocking corrections for most wind-tunnel models and their components. The test section proportions of the Southern California Cooperative Wind Tunnel at CIT (ratio of height to width equal to 1/square root of 2) are used in the calculations.

Book Synopsis Investigation of Fretting Corrosion by Microscopic Observation by : Douglas Godfrey
Download or read book Investigation of Fretting Corrosion by Microscopic Observation written by Douglas Godfrey and published by . This book was released on 1950 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fretting corrosion was concluded to be caused by the removal of finely divided and apparently virgin material due to inherent forces and that its primary reaction is independent of of vibratory motion or high sliding speeds. Fretting corrosion occurred to clean nonmetals and metals readily and glass microscope slides and steel balls provided an excellent method for visual studies.
