Download or read book La AcreditacióN de la EducacióN Superior en IberoaméRica written by V. Ctor Manuel Rosario Mu Oz and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

The potential economic growth of these emerging markets has prompted a need to understand their dynamics, business institutions and educational systems. Many American universities, for example, have responded to the demand of their students and business partners by educating them about the exciting opportunities and lurking threats in these industrializing economies. This book contains multiple chapters designed to educate American students about the curricular innovations and course development occurring in emerging markets.

Book Synopsis Reshaping the Political Arena in Latin America by : Eduardo Silva
Download or read book Reshaping the Political Arena in Latin America written by Eduardo Silva and published by University of Pittsburgh Press. This book was released on 2018-05-22 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Neoliberalism changed the face of Latin America and left average citizens struggling to cope in many ways. Popular sectors were especially hard hit as wages declined and unemployment increased. The backlash to neoliberalism in the form of popular protest and electoral mobilization opened space for leftist governments to emerge. The turn to left governments raised popular expectations for a second wave of incorporation. Although a growing literature has analyzed many aspects of left governments, there is no study of how the redefinition of the organized popular sectors, their allies, and their struggles have reshaped the political arena to include their interests—until now. This volume examines the role played in the second wave of incorporation by political parties, trade unions, and social movements in five cases: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, and Venezuela. The cases shed new light on a subject critical to understanding the change in the distribution of political power related to popular sectors and their interests—a key issue in the study of postneoliberalism.

Book Synopsis Growth with Stability by : Manuel Agosin
Download or read book Growth with Stability written by Manuel Agosin and published by United Nations Publications. This book was released on 2002 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the 1990s, countries in the Latin American and Caribbean region regained access to external finance from international capital markets for the development of their economies. However, the volatility of these sources of finance and the region's pro-cyclical macroeconomic policies have been reflected in unusually frequent financial crises and unstable economic growth. This publication proposes a strategy for growth for the region, based on three key aspects of promoting stability of international capital flows for development financing; trade linkages and access to external capital; and promoting national capital resources by boosting public and private saving and investment.
Book Synopsis Economic Reforms, Growth and Employment by : Jürgen Weller
Download or read book Economic Reforms, Growth and Employment written by Jürgen Weller and published by United Nations Publications. This book was released on 2001 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the last ten to fifteen years, profound structural reforms have moved Latin America and the Caribbean from closed, state-dominated economies to ones that are more market-oriented and open. Policymakers expected that these changes would speed up growth. This book is part of a multi-year project to determine whether these expectation have been fulfilled. Analysing the impact of the reforms on employment it is argued that expectations were not fulfilled with respect to the operation of the labour markets. The reforms limited the expansion of employment in some sectors, particularly in tradeable goods. They also created a bias in labour demad for better educated workers which exacerbates inequality. It is thus made clear that the region faces major challenges both in increasing the number of jobs and improving job equality.
