Book Synopsis Ownership Economics by : Gunnar Heinsohn
Download or read book Ownership Economics written by Gunnar Heinsohn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-04-02 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the first full-length explanation in English of Heinsohn and Steiger's groundbreaking theory of money and interest, which emphasizes the role played by private property rights. Ownership economics gives an alternative explanation of money and interest, proposing that operations enabled by property lead to interest and money, rather than exchange of goods. Like any other approach, it has to answer economic theory's core question: what is the loss that has to be compensated by interest? Ownership economics accepts neither a temporary loss of goods, as in neoclassical economics, nor Keynes's temporary loss of already existing, exogenous money as the cause of interest. Rather, money is created as a non-physical title to property in a credit contract secured by a debtor's collateral and the creditor's net worth. This book is an edited English translation of a highly successful German text, and offers the first book-length treatment of a theory which has received much interest since its first appearance in articles in the late 1970s.

Book Synopsis The Quality of Eligible Collateral, Central Bank Losses and Monetary Stability by : Philipp Lehmbecker
Download or read book The Quality of Eligible Collateral, Central Bank Losses and Monetary Stability written by Philipp Lehmbecker and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2008 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates to what extent the quality of eligible collateral is able to explain inflation. Addressing this question, hypotheses derived from the Theory of Property Economics by Heinsohn & Steiger are tested. Data are collected using a questionnaire, answered by central banks. An index of the quality of eligible collateral is constructed. Regression analyses are performed based on a sample of 62 countries for the period 1990 to 2003. A negative, robust and statistically significant correlation between inflation and the quality of eligible collateral is found. Central bank independence cannot contribute to the explanation of inflation. The result supports the theory of Heinsohn & Steiger: Securitisation of central bank lending is crucial for price stability.

Book Synopsis Studien zur Entwicklung der ökonomischen Theorie by : Harald Hagemann
Download or read book Studien zur Entwicklung der ökonomischen Theorie written by Harald Hagemann and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Focusing on the EU, but with coverage of several regions worldwide, this book brings together a wide range of experts to examine the experiences and approaches of a variety of countries to this issue of employment, and provides an overview of unemployment and its economic implications which will be invaluable to all scholars and policymakers interested in this key area

Book Synopsis The Case for Industrial Policy by : Howard Pack
Download or read book The Case for Industrial Policy written by Howard Pack and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2006 with total page 51 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the underlying rationales for industrial policy? Does empirical evidence support the use of industrial policy for correcting market failures that plague the process of industrialization? To address these questions, the authors provide a critical survey of the analytical literature on industrial policy. They also review some recent industry successes and argue that only a limited role was played by public interventions. Moreover, the recent ascendance of international industrial networks, which dominate the sectors in which less developed countries have in the past had considerable success, implies a further limitation on the potential role of industrial policies as traditionally understood. Overall, there appears to be little empirical support for an activist government policy even though market failures exist that can, in principle, justify the use of industrial policy.
