Book Synopsis Shape and Layout Optimization of Structural Systems and Optimality Criteria Methods by : G.I.N. Rozvany
Download or read book Shape and Layout Optimization of Structural Systems and Optimality Criteria Methods written by G.I.N. Rozvany and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 493 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shape and layout optimization represent some of the most useful but also most difficult classes of problems in structural design, which have been investigated in detail only during the last few years. Shape optimization is concerned with the optimal shape of boundaries of continua or of interfaces between two materials in composites. Layout optimization deals with the simultaneous optimization of the topology, geometry and cross-sectional sizes of structural systems. In spite of its complextiy, layout optimization is a very rewarding task, because it results in much greater savings than the optimization of cross-sectional sizes only. Because of their important role in shape and layout optimization, the book also covers in detail new optimality criteria methods, which are capable of handling many thousand design variables and active design contraints. Shape and layout optimization is becoming an indispensable tool in the design of aeroplanes, space structures, cars, ships, building and civil engineering structures, power stations, chemical plants, artificial organs, sporting equipment, and all other solid systems where stresses and deformations play an important role.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with various computational procedures for multiple repeated analyses (reanalysis) of structures, and presents them in a unified approach. It meets the need for a general text covering the basic concepts and methods as well as recent developments in this area. To clarify the presentation, many illustrative examples and numerical results are demonstrated. Previous books on structural analysis do not cover most of the material presented here.

Book Synopsis Topology Optimization of Structures and Composite Continua by : George I. N. Rozvany
Download or read book Topology Optimization of Structures and Composite Continua written by George I. N. Rozvany and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-01-31 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Topology optimization of structures and composite materials is a new and rapidly expanding field of mechanics which now plays an ever-increasing role in most branches of technology, such as aerospace, mechanical, structural, civil and ma terials engineering, with important implications for energy production as well as building and environmental sciences. It is a truly "high-tech" field which requires advanced computer facilities and computational methods, whilst involving unusual theoretical considerations in pure mathematics. Topology optimization deals with some of the most difficult problems of mechanical sciences, but it is also of consid erable practical interest because it can achieve much greater savings than conven tional (sizing or shape) optimization. Extensive research into topology optimization is being carried out in most of the developed countries of the world. The workshop addressed the state of the art of the field, bringing together re searchers from a diversity of backgrounds (mathematicians, information scientists, aerospace, automotive, mechanical, structural and civil engineers) to span the full breadth and depth of the field and to outline future developments in research and avenues of cooperation between NATO and Partner countries. The program cov ered • theoretical (mathematical) developments, • computer algorithms, software development and computational difficulties, and • practical applications in various fields of technology. A novel feature of the workshop was that, in addition to shorter discussions after each lecture, a 30 minutes panel discussion took place in each sesssion, which made this ARW highly interactive and more informal.

Book Synopsis Engineering Vibroacoustic Analysis by : Stephen A. Hambric
Download or read book Engineering Vibroacoustic Analysis written by Stephen A. Hambric and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2016-05-02 with total page 540 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book describes analytical methods (based primarily on classical modal synthesis), the Finite Element Method (FEM), Boundary Element Method (BEM), Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA), Energy Finite Element Analysis (EFEA), Hybrid Methods (FEM-SEA and Transfer Path Analysis), and Wave-Based Methods. The book also includes procedures for designing noise and vibration control treatments, optimizing structures for reduced vibration and noise, and estimating the uncertainties in analysis results. Written by several well-known authors, each chapter includes theoretical formulations, along with practical applications to actual structural-acoustic systems. Readers will learn how to use vibroacoustic analysis methods in product design and development; how to perform transient, frequency (deterministic and random), and statistical vibroacoustic analyses; and how to choose appropriate structural and acoustic computational methods for their applications. The book can be used as a general reference for practicing engineers, or as a text for a technical short course or graduate course.

Book Synopsis Design-Oriented Analysis of Structures by : Uri Kirsch
Download or read book Design-Oriented Analysis of Structures written by Uri Kirsch and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was developed while I was teaching graduate courses on analysis, design and optimization of structures, in the United States, Europe and Israel. Structural analysis is a main part of any design problem, and the analysis often must be repeated many times during the design process. Much work has been done on design-oriented analysis of structures recently and many studies have been published. The purpose of the book is to collect together selected topics of this literature and to present them in a unified approach. It meets the need for a general text covering the basic concepts and methods as well as recent developments in this area. This should prove useful to students, researchers, consultants and practicing engineers involved in analysis and design of structures. Previous books on structural analysis do not cover most of the material presented in the book. The book deals with the problem of multiple repeated analyses (reanalysis) of structures that is common to numerous analysis and design tasks. Reanalysis is needed in many areas such as structural optimization, analysis of damaged structures, nonlinear analysis, probabilistic analysis, controlled structures, smart structures and adaptive structures. It is related to a wide range of applications in such fields as Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture.
Book Synopsis New Advances in Modal Synthesis of Large Structures: Non-linear Damped and Non-deterministic Cases by : Louis Jezequel
Download or read book New Advances in Modal Synthesis of Large Structures: Non-linear Damped and Non-deterministic Cases written by Louis Jezequel and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 612 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modal analysis of the structures appears to be an essential tool to master their dynamic behaviour. Particularly, the modal synthesis methods combined with the updating technics of the Finite Element models lead to the definition of strategies peculiarly efficient. At present, several developments are being carried out in order to spread these procedures to the latest requirements in structural dynamics: Vibro-acoustic . behaviour; Stochastic approach; Non-linear analysis; Introduction of composite materials. The target of the MV2 International Conference was to take stock of the new methods suggested and to assess their effectiveness. The interest in this book is to gather original works that rely on high-level approaches although these works are clearly intended to industrual applications.
