Book Synopsis One-dimensional Calculation of Flow in a Rotating Passage with Ejection Through a Porous Wall by : Ernst Rudolf Georg Eckert

This book was released on 1955 with total page 738 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In transpiration cooling of various structural elements in gas turbines, the coolant has to be ducted within passages to the porous walls through which it is ejected into the gas stream. The passages, often arranged in rotating parts, have to be designed in such a way as to ensure the proper local distribution of the coolant. In this report, a method is presented by which either the local permeability can be predicted. The method is based on a one-dimensional treatment of the gas flow through a rotating channel with varying cross section and partially porous walls. The inlet pressure into the channel and the outside pressure along it are assumed prescribed. It is also stipulated that the passage ends blindly. However, the method can easily be extended to cover the situation where a certain mass flow leaves the open end of the passage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deflections and all internal forces have been calculated for concentrated static loads. Vibration modes are also presented. The effects of neglecting shearing strains in the ribs and spars and also of assuming the ribs to be rigid have been investigated by modifying the electric circuits to correspond to these simplifications.

This book was released on 1949 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Under the assumptions of linearized theory, general methods of solutin are given for two- and three-dimensional steady-state and two-dimensional unsteady-state equations of compressible flow. The solutions depend in all cases on the use of Green's equivalent layer of sources, sinks, and doublets. Emphasis is placed on applications in supersonic wing theory, the singularities arising in the integrations being treated by Hadamard's finite part of the technique. Four examples of different character are discussed. In particular, the load distribution over a specific swept-back lifting surface is determined at a free-stream Mach number of one.

Book Synopsis Supersonic Wave Drag of Nonlifting Sweptback Tapered Wings with Mach Lines Behind the Line of Maximum Thickness by : Kenneth Margolis
Download or read book Supersonic Wave Drag of Nonlifting Sweptback Tapered Wings with Mach Lines Behind the Line of Maximum Thickness written by Kenneth Margolis and published by . This book was released on 1948 with total page 724 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wave drag equations are derived for rhombic-profile tapered wings with maximum-thickness line swept less than the Mach line. Variations in drag with taper ratio, aspect ratio, sweepback, and Mach number are determined. Calculations are presented for representative plan forms and for a family of wings having equal root bending stress.
