Download or read book The Effect of Tire Pressures on Flexible Pavements written by Freddy L. Roberts and published by . This book was released on 1986 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study includes the results of (1) a field study to determine the tire inflation pressures currently being carried by Texas highways, (2) a literature and analytical study to determine what tire contact pressures are actually being applied by modern tires to pavements, and (3) an analytical study to evaluate the effect of those contact pressures on the stresses and strains in typical Texas flexible pavements. Descriptions of the analytical studies include discussions of the finite element computer program used to model the tire carcass and the flexible pavements. The tires included in the analytical study included both truck and passenger car tires operated at typical loads and inflation pressures.

Book Synopsis Effects of Automobile Tire Loads on Thin Flexible Pavements by : Freddy L. Roberts
Download or read book Effects of Automobile Tire Loads on Thin Flexible Pavements written by Freddy L. Roberts and published by . This book was released on 1987 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report includes the results of an analytical study of the effects of automobile tire loads on thin asphalt pavements over flexible bases. Two different ways of calculating the tire contact pressure were used and the strains induced in the pavement structure were evaluated. The uniform pressure tire model assumes that the tire contact pressure is equal to the tire inflation pressure. The Tielking tire model is a finite element computer program that models the tire as a shell of revolution and calculates the contact pressure distribution by using the tire carcass properties and the tire load.

Book Synopsis Advances in Materials and Pavement Prediction by : Eyad Masad
Download or read book Advances in Materials and Pavement Prediction written by Eyad Masad and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-07-16 with total page 596 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Materials and Pavement Performance Prediction contains the papers presented at the International Conference on Advances in Materials and Pavement Performance Prediction (AM3P, Doha, Qatar, 16- 18 April 2018). There has been an increasing emphasis internationally in the design and construction of sustainable pavement systems. Advances in Materials and Pavement Prediction reflects this development highlighting various approaches to predict pavement performance. The contributions discuss links and interactions between material characterization methods, empirical predictions, mechanistic modeling, and statistically-sound calibration and validation methods. There is also emphasis on comparisons between modeling results and observed performance. The topics of the book include (but are not limited to): • Experimental laboratory material characterization • Field measurements and in situ material characterization • Constitutive modeling and simulation • Innovative pavement materials and interface systems • Non-destructive measurement techniques • Surface characterization, tire-surface interaction, pavement noise • Pavement rehabilitation • Case studies Advances in Materials and Pavement Performance Prediction will be of interest to academics and engineers involved in pavement engineering.
