Las dos experiencias queconforman el corpus empírico de esta tesis son, por un lado, el proyecto de Cooperación Internacional alDesarrollo denominado “Ubuntu‐LEADER”, implementado en KwaZulu‐Natal (Sudáfrica) desde 2007hasta 2011 y, por otro, la “Comunidad de La Mora” basada en un sistema de intercambio comunitario ycrédito mutuo (sistema LETS) que se desarrolla en la Comarca de Sierra Norte (Madrid) desde el año2012 hasta la actualidad.Ambas experiencias se sitúan en espacios rurales de especial vulnerabilidad como consecuencia, entreotros factores, de los contextos nacionales de crisis económica y descolonización (este segundo aspectovinculado al caso de Sudáfrica) en los que se encuentran y frente a los cuales, además, las comunidadeshan articulado el uso de dos instrumentos económicos de gestión comunitaria: un fondo rotatorio comoresultado del proyecto “Ubuntu‐LEADER” en KwaZulu‐Natal y una moneda social, la “Mora”, quevertebra una Comunidad de Intercambio y crédito mutuo en el caso de la Sierra Norte de Madrid...
