Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: In 1994 the Gang of Four, consisting of Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson and John Vlissides, published the book Design Pattern - Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software. Within that book the four information scientists described 23 design patterns, which they classi?ed into the categories Creational Design Pattern, Structural Design Pattern and Behavioral Design Pattern. Even though design patterns exist since 15 years at present, they have not lost relevance. Due to new concepts the usage of design patterns within web application is increasing. Meanwhile all 23 established design patterns are available as PHP implementations. Aside web languages like AJAX, JavaScript, XHTML and CSS also appreciate the strength of design patterns. At first web languages like AJAX, PHP, et cetera will be analyzed if they qualify for the usage of design patterns. At second the usage of design patterns within open source web applications like Typo3, Joomla, Wordpress, et cetera will be examined. At third various web developers of 1&1, web.de, Telekom, et cetera will be interviewed to investigate if and in which amount design patterns are used by companies. Intention of this thesis is to determine the relevance of design pattern within web applications. Thereby advantages will also be shown like disadvantages. Also the question, if design patterns should be used by default or only if the concerning project reached a specific size, will be answered. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first English-language edition of this book was published in 1989 under the title "Enterprise-Wide Data Modelling." It introduced a new enterprise data model that has since gone on to enjoy widespread use as a reference model. Since that time, the author has continued to develop the representation of application problems, both on a theoretical basis using modeling languages and on a practical basis using real-world studies. This has led to so many new aspects that this second English-language edition (the original German version is now in its fifth edition) constitutes a completely new book. The new title expresses the stricter emphasis on business processes in contrast to the previous edition, which was geared more toward a functional structure. This approach reflects the trend toward process oriented structural and procedural organization in enterprises that is currently being supported by new means of information processing. Perhaps the most obvious way in which the second English-language edition differs from the first is in the increased number of pages. This is a direct result of the higher degree of detail and the more thorough problem description presented in the new edition. The degree of detail has increased in the case of those problems that are particularly important in terms of selecting and designing information systems in an industrial enterprise, e.g., the product description and CAM factory organization. This approach provides greater reality and thus facilitates a better understanding of the complex organism that is an industrial enterprise.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: " During the last decades, the international financial markets saw enormous developments. Today, every newspaper offers advice on investment strategies and analysts seemingly earn money by drawing magic lines through prices series. Even though more and more traders rely on technical analysis, economists remain sceptical. How can the apparent success of technical trading strategies be reconciled with efficient market theories? This book mainly consists of three parts. The first part critically reviews the empirical literature on technical analysis and suggests to leave behind profitability calculations in favor of a systematic approach to analyzing trading rules, where special attention is given to the evaluation of the rules' forecasts. The second part presents the results of an empirical analysis that covers 5 exchange rates series spanning more than 20 years. In the third part, the theoretical background as well as the implications of a widespread use of technical analysis are critically discussed. The thorough overview presented here lays a foundation for further discussions of technical analyses and its effects on markets. "

Book excerpt: The benefits of digitalisation do not lie in the use of new technologies for existing processes, but in organisational changes and new business models. The book highlights the composable enterprise as the guiding principle for successful digital transformation and associated cost reductions and revenue increases. What does it mean? A composable enterprise is organised in a decentralised process-oriented way. This allows the enterprise to react quickly to new situations, develop or change processes and business models. The information systems are based on platform architectures. A paradigm shift to monolithic applications. Sector concepts for industry, consulting and universities show how organisation and application architectures interlock in the composable enterprise. The reader receives inspiration, a foundation and a compass for the digital transformation of a company to the composable enterprise.

This book was released on 2024-05-06 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nursing process generally is understood as key element of professional nursing care in Germany. This study follows this argument back to the introduction of the nursing process in the 1970s and 1980s. At that time, the German healthcare system underwent dramatic changes and economic reorganization, which can be understood as the emergence of the neoliberal rationale in Germany. The argument of cost explosion was used to restructure hospitals into enterprises that were to operate based on the logic of the market. Its cybernetic logic made the nursing process an ideal instrument to restructure nursing care. Perspectives of governmentality and critical accounting reveal the nursing process as an accounting tool which has made nursing calculable. And while German nurses valued its potential for professionalization, the findings suggest that a newly constituted accountable nursing vocation can instead be considered as de-professionalizing.
