Book excerpt: 1.1 Introduction The modern world, mainly dominated by rapid growth of science and technological innovations is, no doubt, moving towards material world. Technological developments and innovations have made human life materialistic, mechanical, conditioned and controlled. Therefore, a constructivist and progressive approach with broaden horizon may be the only remedy to uplift mankind from its present situation. Education is the only way and means to relate to the whole world, to experience, to understand and attempt to change the perceptions of the world. Education works as the spinal cord for the development of a nation. A nation can be a developed one only if it has strong, comprehensive and diversified education system. Change is the law of nature and life. In the same way education system changes with the passage of time as it is a dynamic concept. In different periods it goes on changing on the foundation of circumstances of the country, i.e. on the basis of educational views of eminent personalities and educationists, as well as the recommendations given by various education commissions and committees.[1] [1]Bhatnagar, Suresh & Saxena, Anamika (2006) Development of Education in India. Book excerpt: Language Planning is a resurgent academic discipline, reflecting the importance of language in issues of migration, globalisation, cultural diversity, nation-building, education and ethnic identity. Written as an advanced introduction, this book engages with all these themes but focuses specifically on language planning as it relates to education, addressing such issues as bilingualism and the education of linguistic minority pupils in North America and Europe, the educational and equity implications of the global spread of English, and the choice of media of instruction in post-colonial societies. Contextualising this discussion, the first two chapters describe the emergence and evolution of language planning as an academic discipline, and introduce key concepts in the practice of language planning. The book is wide-ranging in its coverage, with detailed discussion of the context of language policy in a variety of countries and communities across North America, Europe, Africa and Asia.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The earlier volume in this series dealt with two religions of Indian origin, namely, Buddhism and Jainism. The Indian religious scene, however, is characterized by not only religions which originated in India but also by religions which entered India from outside India and made their home here. Thus religious life in India has been enlivened throughout its history by the presence of religions of foreign origin on its soil almost from the very time they came into existence. This volume covers three such religions—Zoraoastrianism, Judaism, and Islam . In the case of Zoraostianism, even its very beginnings are intertwined with India, as Zoroastrianism reformed a preexisting religion which had strong links to the Vedic heritage of India. This relationship took on a new dimension when a Zoroastrian community, fearing persecution in Persia after its Arab conquest, sought shelter in western India and ultimately went on to produce India’s pioneering nationalist in the figure of Dadabhai Naoroji ( 1825-1917), also known as the Grand Old Man of India. Jews found refuge in south India after the destruction of the Temple by the Romans in 70 C.E. and have remained a part of the Indian religious scene since then, some even returning to Israel after it was founded in 1948. Islam arrived in Kerala as soon as it was founded and one of the earliest mosques in the history of Islam is found in India. Islam differs from the previously mentioned religions inasmuch as it went on to gain political hegemony over parts of the country for considerable periods of time, which meant that its impact on the religious life of the subcontinent has been greater compared to the other religions. It has also meant that Islam has existed in a religiously plural environment in India for a longer period than elsewhere in the world so that not only has Islam left a mark on India, India has also left its mark on it. Indeed all the three religions covered in this volume share this dual feature, that they have profoundly influenced Indian religious life and have also in turn been profoundly influenced by their presence in India.

This book was released on 2019-07-09 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Education is the most important foundation of the society. On the base of education society can be structurized, built or rebuilt, molded or altered. Education should not be identified with degrees, labels, diplomas that an individual may attach to his/her sleeves in the course of development of his special skill and personality which help him to fit into a particular role in over all fabrics of the society. If one acquires efficiency in doing a particular job or he possesses adequate knowledge of producing a commodity can be called educated. Education should lead to the development of man in a well manner in the society in which he lives. As man insists on education should be linked with productive labour leading to the development of 'moral', spiritual' and 'physical' growth of man breaking the warriors of the towns and the villages, the poor and the rich. Here reasearcher has tried to study about education from the emerging philosophy of Pandurang Athvale.
