Book excerpt: En aquest estudi s'analitzen les actituds cap al bilingüisme i l'ensenyament bilingüe anglès-espanyol en els docents d'educació primària, intermèdia i secundària del comtat californià de Ventura als Estats Units. La finalitat de l'estudi es determinar a nivell exploratori els patrons d'integració cultural i sociolingüístics que se'n poden inferir i la seva relació amb altres variables sociodemogràfiques, lingüístiques, sociolingüístiques i acadèmic-professionals rellevants, recollides en la bibliografia especialitzada en aquest camp, com ara l'aptitud lingüística, el sexe, l'edat , la formació, el nivell docent i l'origen ètnic, entre d'altres. A aquest efecte, s'ha dut a terme un estudi de camp mitjançant una enquesta per mostreig, estadísticament representativa, de la població d'escoles públiques primàries, intermèdies i secundàries adscrites als districtes escolars amb educació bilingüe anglès-espanyol. S'ha treballat amb una mostra de 337 subjectes, 263 de sexe femení i 74 de sexe masculí, que van ser enquestats amb un qüestionari autoadministrat de 57 ítems de mesurament de les variables dependents i 27 ítems per a les variables independents i d'identificació. El qüestionari es va administrar a través d'Internet mitjançant la plataforma Google Forms. Utilitzant anàlisi de correlació, de variància i factorial, es va poder fer un conjunt d'inferències rellevants estadísticament significatives a partir de les respostes dels subjectes. Els resultats obtinguts permeten concloure, entre d'altres troballes, que en la població de docents analitzada impera un patró d'aculturació integradora marcat per la necessitat d'adaptació de la minoria ètnica hispanoparlant a la cultura receptora dominant, així com per prejudicis de la majoria ètnica angloparlant cap l'idioma espanyol, la cultura que vehicula i els seus habitants.
